I have a 7800 gtx 256 but im dissatisfied with its performance in battlefield 2. Will I see a huge diff if i get the x1900xt? I really hate the fps dipping down to 30s and 40s most of the time. Also how much more fps does the xtx get from the xt?

This is crazy i already upgraded my pc twice just to get battlefield 2 to run better. First I get a 3800+ venice to replace my 3000+winchester but see no diff in performance. Then 2x1gb because i got alot of lag with only 2x512. Then i had to ditch my 6800 gt for a 7800 gtx because battlefield 2:special forces ran like crap on the 6800 gt. The 7800 gtx performs alot better than the 6800 gt but im sick of getting 30-45 fps most of the time

I would say there is a big difference in BF2 as well as in many other games the X1900XT has a nice increase in performance

I don't know if the performance is worth you upgrading right now, maybe wait until the 7900 series gets released and go from there mate.

For a cheaper price you can buy another 7800GTX and gain more performance then one X1900XT, just a suggestion. I only say this because I see you already have a SLI motherboard.

Goodluck, it's always hard choosing when it comes to hardware. For me atleast.

Actually he can sell his 7800GTX for ~$250 and than an X1900XT will only cost ~$200 versus $400 to add another 7800GTX.

Yeah, but two 7800's outperform one X1900XT, that was my point. I also think he can get a bit more than $250 for his 7800GTX. Just my two cents mate.

What settings are you using man?

At 1680x1050 w/ 4xAA and TSAA I get ~80fps the majority of the time

1280x1024 all high 4axx. I do get 90 fps when there is not much going on. Frame rate is all over the place. I definitely think that the weak graphics card is the culprit. My pc is up to spec. I get 7860 in 3dmark 05 at stock settings. Get high fps in CS:S too.

You cannot really compare ur system to mine because mine is not oced. I don't care about ocing just care if the x1900xt will give me high fps consistantly and not mediocre 45 fps

Not in BF2, which is the game he wants more performance in. For BF2, the XTX is easily the better choice. They are down to under $500 now, and $550 for a retail box at CompUSA.

The XTX is easily the better choice over 2xGTX's for BF2.

Ackmed, heres a question...In my second rig I have 2 7800GTX's 256MB editions. They are factory clocked at 470/1.2. Would you say, its worth it for me to sell both of them and get a X1900XTX and a little bit of money in my pocket? Think thats a worthy upgrade? Just a question mate....

I am for sure keeping my two 512 7800's, but I was thinking of redoing my GPU's in my second rig though. Advice would be appreciated.

I am in the same boat. Both of my 7800's are sold, and waiting for tomorrow to make my buying decision. Like you, I mostly play BF2. And the simple fact is, ATi cards play BF2 better. If the 7900 isnt at least as good, Ill probably get a XTX, and say good bye to SLI.

Then go back to watercooling with the rest of my left over cash. :)

I have been debating on selling my two 256 7800GTX's to grab a X1900XTX, my first reason is because I only have enough patience for one SLI rig, and second, I am really impressed at what ATI did with this X1900.

Now my main concern is, do you think with my second rig, that I am downgrading by getting a X1900XTX to replace my two 256 7800GTX's? Be honest everyone...Like I said before, I am for sure keeping my two 512 7800's, but kind of want to sell my two 256 7800's for a X1900XTX. Let me hear your comments mates. Thanks.
