Hello as you can see in my signature I have a 6600 GT agp card right now. Since I built this computer this summer it's been having freezing problems on me. I'm sure other people have posted questions about it. I've done everythign except replace the video card and motherboard. So with christmas money I have decided to buy a new mobo and video card. This time I'm going with PCI Express, sadly I have to stick with 754 pin cpu. Anyway I was looking at the Nvidia 6800 GT's and the 7800 GT's , the GTX is out of my price range. I wanted to know, in your opinions, is the 7800 GT worth the extra cash? Also please let me know should i be looking for 512 mb? or 256 mb? Right now I have a 128 MB. Please show me good deals, on newegg or other places, I want a card for $310 or under if possible, the mobo i found is only 100 bucks. Please let me know what you guys think. Thanks!

P.S. I am aware I need a new PSU, haha even though I just bought my 400 W, what do you guys suggest 500 W?

If you have the money to spend, there's no question about it. 7800GT. Just because you get the working purevideo, and the price difference isn't worth thinking about. 256meg is just fine.

Your already replacing the 2 main parts, and now wanting to spend over $ 400 only to see at max 40 % increase in games.

Since you mentioned the word suggest a couple of times, you already know my answer BUT..........

Niether the 7800GT or 6800GT for your system is the best bang for the buck!

Since you are switching to PCI-E, grab a Sapphire X800 GTO-2 for $ 210 and add a $ 25 cooler, P@wn the whole world.

A 7800GT is a much better buy now that it can be had for $ 300. Take my word and get a X800GTO-2, you'll save $ on a new power supply.

I went from a 6600GT and a P4 to a 7800GT/A64 system. I loved it. i recommend the 7800GT. I bought a 500W psu just because my old one was a POS 420W.

But again, 7800GT, it makes things looks SO nice.
