Hello everyone,

i'm looking for a deliding tool wich can handle the upcomping 7700k.

As you can see here on these pictures, the 7770k looks like the 6700k but not totally :

So, knowing that, do you think the deliding tool by RockitCool would be able to handle it without any damage and relid it properly?

Best regards,

Nexus

Well, isn't that what RichUK used in the other thread? I think that's what he used from the looks of it. It should be compatible. I'm also willing to delidd my coming i7 7700K.

RichUK actually used the Rockit Cool - Rockit 88 tool. http://rockitcool.myshopify.com/
He posted a link on page 2 of his thread. https://forums.anandtech.com/thread...erclocks-inside-now-with-delid.2493250/page-2
The video he added of the delidding in his first post in that thread is someone else's delidding video.

Anyway, the Rockit Cool - Rockit 88 tool will work too since it pushes on the lid from the sides that have the "wings" which is just as straight and flat as the 6700k lid.

Correct.

Hello everyone and thanks for your answers :)

The Delid-Die-Mate is too expensive compared to the Rockit one. It costs ~82€ only with the tool but if i order on the Rockit shop i can grab the delid/relid kit, Liquid Ultra and Gelid Solution TIMs for the same price.

Indeed i asked James with the contact button on the Rockit shop but, no reply yet i guess because of the holidays maybe? I don't know a lot about kickstarter and my english is kind of limited so, if i get it, Rockit was a dude who got an idea and made a crowd founding, he managed to achieve his goal, thanks to the community and now it is an official shop working great, correct?

Anyway, thanks for your replies guys, i'm gonna order it now then.

Good job on your 7700k RichUK, and good luck to everyone who wants to delid this candy when it comes out (its a shame we have to do that but i personally don't care that much because its fun to do, like building airplanes models hehe) i hope the Optane support isn't a lie.

Best regards,

Done, the Rockit88 Tool is fully compatible ^^

NB : i used a credit card and pure isopropyl alcohol to remove the black glue

Thank you RichUK ^^

Man i was so nervous when i delided this little thing, and when applying the Liquid Ultra on it i was thinking "if i do something wrong that's going to short circuit like hell"

It was hard to get the last BIOS update tho, no support for Europe when i did it, i'm happy my wife got a laptop i could used to download the latest version and flash it.

I'm currently @stock, establishing the cooling curves for fans and trying to get the perfect combo (low noise, still moving air) then i'm going to jump to 5ghz and run some benchmarks.

Silicon Lottery mentions something like "liquid electrical tape," painted on the CPU PCB before applying the CLU. What exactly are they talking about? Where can you get it? It would seem as something handy to keep around, like electronics cleaning fluid, Isopropyl alcohol, and other useful items.

You need that to clean the CPU without damaging it : (and a credit card to remove the rest of the black glue without scratching it)

You can buy it online but i needed a SIRET serial number to do it because it's an industrial "pro only" product, use it with caution.

Duck -
"liquid electrical tape" is a paint on insulating product sold by many manufacturers.
Most hardware stores carry it.
Just google "liquid electrical tape" for pictures.
