FYI if you are close to a Microcenter they are selling the 7700K for the same price.

Isn't this interesting. When the 6700K was released, people couldn't get enough of them, there were shortages, and retailers raised the price, often above $400.

Now, within a few weeks of release, we can get cut-rate 7700K CPUs? Unbelievable.

Either everybody already upgraded to 6700K, and therefore no-one wants to upgrade to the "same cores", or something is going on.

Maybe. If I was looking to build a new rig, I'd definitely be waiting for Ryzen (I still might build a new one depending on 6-8 core Ryzen pricing).

I may also. It's been a long time since I've built AMD, wouldn't mind trying the new gear out if it's competitive.

I got one. I may get a Ryzen too but not right away. I hope AMD does well. As much as it would hurt it would be nice to see my new 7700k devalued by 50%. But if it is core per core competitive as the their blender tests suggest I doubt they will price it at 50% i7 6900. 80% seems more wise to me from a business perspective. But then on the other hand there are a lot of five plus year old machines out there. Maybe there is profit in a price war?

I wonder if it has anything to do with future devices that are both micro and advanced in nature.
