Well I am not planning to upgrade to d10 anytime soon so these are my two best options...

7600gt for $75 AR

OR

7900gs for $110 AR

I know 7900gs is better but i don't play the newst of the new games and I think 7600gt will tide me over at least until I feel like upgrading to dx10?

Any opinions, facts, comments?

What resolution do you plan on using? If it's less than 1600x1200, then a 7600gt is a slightly better choice at the prices you mentioned.

I used to use my 7900GS on a 19" widescreen (1440 x 900) and it worked great. It was noticably faster then my old 6800GS OC (500/1100) that is probably almost as fast as a 7600GT. I'd probably go with the 7900GS because it'll play future games better. I thnk either will do ok though.

I can tell you that on average a 7900gs is about 35% faster without AA, and about 45% faster with AA at resolutions close to 1600x1200, so it's up to you to decide if the difference is worth the cost. If you're into overclocking, then the 7900gs has more headroom, and it becomes a better card for the money.

To tell the truth i think the biggest reason im hesitant about 7900gs is because its been that price since like June...shouldn't it have fallen some? I keep waiting but nothing happens :(

the 7900gs uses like 10 watts more. I think either would be an ok choice, but the 7900gs generally has more overclocking headroom.
