I just bought a 9600gt scc to replace my old 7600gt, how should I update the driver?

Do I uninstall the old one first?

Yes. Uninstall the old one. Boot down, install the 9600GT, let it autodetect, cancel out to automatically install new driver twice etc....install the new WHQL driver specifically for the 9600GT and your OS version.

Yeah, that's the driver you want. Your 9600GT is capable of PhysX support and that is the latest driver.

Don't forget to use Driver Cleaner in safe mode AFTER you removed the old ones.

I just removed my old 7800GTX put in my 8800GT, and installed 177.92. No driver cleaner, uninstall etc. And it all worked like it should. I think that most problems occur if you go from nvidia to ati or vice versa.

The only time I ever use a driver removal tool is if switching between nV and ATi hardware. Otherwise just uninstall software, power down, install new card, then update with latest drivers supported for the new card.
