i know the radeon is a bit older, but i don't know all to much about the 7600gs. i purchased the 7600gs for a HPTC, but i'm considering replacing my radeon with the 7600gs, and putting the radeon into the HPTC.

is the 7600gs significantly better than the x850xt?

Yes the X850XT is a bit faster than a 7600GS because its almost on par with the 7600GT which is better than a 7600GS by far.

7600GS should be around 5% faster than a 6600GT.

X850XT and 7600GT should be close to each other and both of them beat the crap out of a 6600GT and so would they do to the 7600GS. 7600GS is much much slower.

Well, X850XT lacks Shader Model 3. Depends if you want HDR or not.

well so much for the 7600gs. the HPTC was horribly alergic to that card, so went out an got a x1300 pro. i wont be playing games with that system, only watching dvds, avis, HDTV, etc.

should i go out and spend an extra $20 and get the x1600? will the performance in what i need be much better than the x1300?

Hmm, a 7600GS is waiii slower than an x850xt...you say you bought one anyway?

For what you're wanting to do an x1300pro should be fine...

X850XT should be slightly faster than a 7600GT, but lacks SM3 as others have said, so basically, a 7600GS will be alot slower, afterall, a 7600GS is only offering slightly better than 6800 vanilla performance, and it I'm not mistaken, the X850XT whooped the 6800Ultra, so therefore a 7600GS is not even in the same league.
