Chicane? Look for "Saltwater" and "Autumn Tactics".

bill leeb from delerium also does front line assembly, i've never heard enigma or delerium but i believe that FLA is more industrial than delerium.

Urgh, delerium's sound is like on the opposite side of the spectrum from FLA. The story behind delerium/FLA is that supposedly some guys from FLA wanted to try a completely different sound, but it never works out well when your band is already established into one genre. So they created another group, this time called delerium.

Or that's what I'm told.

interesting. i heard delerium did some thing w/ sarah mclaughlan, and if so, that is totally NOT my style of music :p but FLA is pretty cool IMO.

interested in some swedish death metal? ;)

Ah, the age-old question to which I have sought the answer ever since first hearing Enigma's MCMXC a.D. in 1990 (go figure!). No one comes close to that album IMHO. I like delerium and dead can dance too, but Enigma is the pioneer... they (well, actually he [Michael Cretu]) did it first and best.

Also check out deep forest. Again, they are different from enigma, but they have some good stuff. IMHO their first album "Deep Forest" is their most accessible. I'm sure you'll have heard the song "Sweet Lullaby" on the radio or in commercials or something.

The other disc you should check out is called "Chorus Of Tribes" by Myth. It came out several years ago and had many frothing at the mouth about it being the perfect combination of the sounds of enigma and deep forest. I have it and I think it's nice but yet again it's not Enigma. There's just no substitute I'm afraid.

Going beyond these you're going to venture into the realm of new age music (don't be afraid!). So if you've come that far, check out the artists Chris Spheeris, and Oystein Sevag.

Wow, you too huh? That's probably my favorite album ever. Yeah I don't think delerium, deep forest, heck even engima's later stuff is as good as Enigma's first album.

Ugh, that's not the answer I wanted to hear :( ;)

Yeah I know... my favorite of all time. It's not saying a whole lot becuase there is TONS of music that I love. But I will always hold a special spot for that CD because of how strongly it affects me. How unique it was and how it has never been duplicated (even by Enigma itself as you sagely pointed out). I will never EVER get tired of listening to it. In fact, your thread caused me to queue it up on the old playlist. It's actually been a while--a few months since I listened to it last so thanks for reminding me... ;)

But don't let me discourage you. Check out Deep Forest and Chorus of Tribes--you might be surprised at how good they are. Just go in expecting to be disappointed, and that way if it turns out you like them you'll be pleasantly surprised... :)

The Chorus of Tribes disc is hard to find in stores. Amazon has it though. But you could always look for some tracks on your favorite file sharing service. Check out the track called "Rain Song".

P.S. I really like disc 2 of Perfecto Presents Another World also... the opening especially with the dialogue from the movie "Contact". That's one of my very favorite movies so there's one reason... but the music on that disc is nicely chosen and mixed by Oakey. Again, not enigma but still cool.

Edit: I forgot about B-Tribe. There's another group I sought out as being enigma-like. They are, somewhat, but their influence is definitely spanish/flamenco. Check out some tracks from their debut CD--Fiesta Fatal.

Enigma rocks.... got all their stuff, and some Delerium too...

Along those same lines, check out E.S. Posthumus. Unearthed is their latest CD and is quite good. Some of their stuff is used in trailers for Time Machine and I believe the new Spiderman flick...
