So I have the EVGA SuperNOVA 750 Watt PSU. I am going to be upgrading to a (Single) EVGA GTX 1070 FTW Edition soon. Do I have enough power to run it with no problems? My System is on the description with the exception of a recently added 500GB 850 EVO SSD.

Thanks guys.

Yes easily, mabe even 2 1070's

Easily two GTX 1070s (Founders Edition) 150w each cards could be installed, no problem.

Heck. someone could easily power two GTX 1080 cards (Founders Edition 180w max each) with a quality 750w unit, and have plenty left over.

I imagine even the Founders version of the GTX 1080ti (250w max each) could do it, so if someone didn't mind pushing the PSU, there's enough juice there two power two of them. I'd have to look at the 12v rail to see how many amps it could put out, but just guessing I think it would work.

However, if people come across this "what if" guess on running two GTX 1080ti cards on a single 750w PSU, I personally wouldn't go lower than 850w for that setup as to not to shorten the PSU's lifespan by pushing it way too hard. Plus, AIB versions can use more power depending on their clocks.

What about running a Ryzen 3 1200 CPU @ 3.80, and a Gigabyte shorty/ITX GTX 1060 3GB card, on an EVGA 400W PSU? (It has two PCI-E 6-pins on one cable.)

Should work just fine. The FE GTX 1060 is 120w max, and from reviews for an overclocked Ryzen 1200, max power draw was 136w, so I don't see why a good quality 400w unit would be a good unit for that build. And as we all know with modern builds, components don't constantly run at their max power unless someone is running synthetic benchmarks (like Unigine "power virus" programs or Prime95).

Even when I do Folding on my system listed in my signature, I usually only pull 310w - 360w depending on the difficulty of whatever project I end up getting.

750w high quality PSU can easily handle 2x1070 in SLI. The 1070 at stock speeds only consumes up to 180w, overclocked it may consume around 200W.

So yeah, high quality 750W psu will handle it easily, though again it all depends on the PSU quality, one of those cheap low quality PSU's will likely not be enough. I've had cheap Chineese PSU's in the past, in fact one was 800W and it died on my previous PC. Thankfully only the psu died and didn't damage any other parts.

Tomshardware have a very good rank of PSU's. Basically tier 1 to tier 2 are amazing PSU's, tier 3 is good and tier 4 is okay. Anything below that is crap and not recommended.

As others have said, a quality 750W PSU is more than enough for a GTX 1070, even overclocked to the max.

I currently have a Threadripper 1900X + dual 1080 Ti rig on a 850W eVGA G3 under 100% load 24/7 with no issues.

awesome thanks all. Appreciate it Admin(s)

Just got a great deal on a EVGA GTX 1070 FTW 2. Should be here next week or the end of this week. Can't wait. Going to be a great upgrade.

I got a Corsair CX 750 that powers my i5 8400 and 1070ti just fine.I have bought a couple of the CX units and all are working. For a system that has no overclocking i think its more then fine. I value absolute stability over that extra couple frames and additional heat.

Even on a completely overclocked system it's fine. I'm running a very old tx750 corsair psu on a 9900k, rtx 2080 system with everything overclocked to the max with zero issues.
