These modems are $199.99 and there is $125 rebate valid from 05/25/01 to 09/02/01. With 1 penny more, u got self-start kit. I heard radio shack also have same deal, but haven't checked it.

Do you have sign up for a new account to get the rebate? I have a 2 year old home account and am still paying monthly for the modem🙁.

You must have some bad info or the store I went to has the dumbest manager in the west.

$199.00 for Motorola SB4100 + $30.00 starter kit less $75.00 MIR - that sucks!! 😡

$157.00 shipped 2nd day fed ex @ Z-buy.

CC Broadband equipment not yet online
Thank you for your interest in Broadband. At this time, we are not selling Broadband products or services online. However, they are available for purchase in our stores and we will be adding them to our web site later this year. Please refer to our online Learn About section or visit your local Circuit City store for more information.

One nice thing.
At least it seems they're interested in the entire variety of technologies:
Learning About Broadband
DSL Broadband Service
Cable Broadband Service
Satellite Broadband Service
Fixed Wireless Broadband Service

At the Circuit City in East Brunswick, NJ the deal is $199.00 for the modem + 0.01 for the starter kit, less $125.00 rebate *ONLY* for new Comcast@Home Cablemodem customers!

I went by CompUSA they have a $219.99 toshiba and a 189.99 Best Data? cable modem. If you get one of the cable modems you can get the self start kit for $.01 and a $75 rebate. The rebate ends saturday. The CompUSA guy was pretty helpful but, he REALLY, REALLY wanted me to buy a 2 year $20 service plan - to protect from lightning. BTW this was in Nashville.

Not to crap on the thread, but are there actuially some broadband providers that don't provide free equipment? I know every Cable/DSL add I've seen in the last year offers a free modem.

P.S., Anyone know when @Home's cap goes into effect?

I'm paying $30 a month and have NO cap 😀. I've had Optimum Online in CT for over 4 years now, I paid $99 for my modem with a 1-year contract and have been happy as a clam, getting between 200kBytes per second to 1.2MB per second depending on how fast any specific site is. 30-user nodes that are constanty split, POP3/SMTP, and my node only has 2 users 😀! Bliss is not known by anyone who doesn't use Optimum Online... it's comparable to having a t1-t3 line in your house!

Here in MD I'm paying $7 a month for the 'lease' of my modem. That's a pretty hot deal compared to shelling out $140-$200 for a new one - that's *three years* of leasing. And if the one I'm leasing goes belly-up in 3 years - they'll replace it with a new one, no problem.

Sometime's it is good to buy... sometimes better to lease. Think about it before you shell out the $.

AT&T@home is raping me for $46.95/mo for cable internet.....$10 of it to "rent" a modem....

you are a lucky dog, err.... I mean, tiger, YOU are a lucky TIGER. I HOPE optimum will venture outside the NJ/NY/CT area, @home will go out of business real quick, or atleast offer cheaper rates or better upload speeds.
