Hah! That's great!

I would of loved to been there. How was the guy still standing after 7 punches? I'm surprised the crook didn't press charges for assualt.

I hate thieves as much as the next person but:

Jesse Daniel Rae, the 27-year-old Newaygo County man accused of trying to pick Barnes' pocket, was arraigned Monday in Rockford District Court on one count of unarmed robbery, a 15-year felony.

WTF? 15 years?

That's awesome. I don't know if a surveillance/security video would help this thread, but I'd like to see it.

15 years seemed really harsh to me too. I can see that for a robbery where you're threatening someone, but the whole point of pickpocketing is to go undetected. Maybe it would be too hard to legally differentiate, so they just call it robbery.

That guy, being a marine, probably has the biggest grin in the world right now after what he just did at his age...hidden back here...you know, in the shadow of his heart where no one can see it;)

And the kid.....ahahha...dude must have been shocked as hell....

"yoink"
*boom bam* *more batman noises*
"what the fu..."

7 clean punches from an ungloved ex-champion boxer right on the face?

He must be in critical condition now.

wow, got his ass beat by a 72 year old and 15 years in prison. he better not let the other inmates know, or they are gonna make him toss a lot of salads.

"There was blood everywhere," said another manager on duty, Abby Ostrom, 25.

Bwaaahahahahahahahahahahaha... that was priceless.

BTW, nowhere did it say the guy go 15 years. It just said that the crime was a 15 year felony. This kid isn't getting anywheere near that. Still funny as hell though.:laugh:

If you know how to fight, it really does not matter the age. Most people dont fight any more, they just grab a gun or something to make themselves feel big. Alot of older men can dish it out very well, mostly because they have done it before, the kid that was beat up probablly never has been in a real fight, does not know how to be tough because he never has had to be.

For instance, My father was home listening to his Johnny Cash and having a beer or two. My younger brother comes home from the bars with a couple of friends. My father was like 64 at the time, my brother was 21. Now my father is maybe 5'9" and almost 165lbs. not big at all.
So one of my brother's friends gets in my dad's face, dont know why or how, so my dad clocks him once, chipped a tooth and dropped him to the ground, the kid did not get back up. Shock and lack of expirence will drop most and keep them there.

15 is probablly the maximum for his crime, also we dont know the crooks past record. Could be a 3 strikes type thing.

This is not how the legal system works. Police always after an arrest charge an individual with the worst crimes for which they qualify. Now the dependent attorney and prosecutor have an initial negotiation. Based on many factors, criminal history and the context of the crime. A lessor charge maybe immediately substituted for the initial charge. So right off the bat the new charge may only have a 5 year max. In this case maybe 3rd degree larceny or something like that which is not a felony. Now if the guy is a junkie or has no criminal record he will likely do no time. Rehab or accelerated rehabilitation with probation is likely to follow. Again, the circumstances would have to be pretty severe for this guy to receive the maximum sentence of the initial charge.

I'm not a lawyer but this is my understanding of how the legal system works.
