I'm really not sure I see $72K there.

I mean, it looks like a nice ride, but that's overboard.

Who the hell needs 200HP on a motorcycle?

Having said that, I saw a Hayabusa yesterday and was stunned at how cool it looked and sounded. :p

It's more or less the GP bike with lights. The price is "reasonable" when you start breaking down the amount of work that went into these bikes.

Except that, in practice, you can get 97% the awesome factor for 20% of the cost. Take the savings and make your base bike faster/better if you really want. I'd be surprised if there's a rider on this board that could push that less-expensive bike to it's limits.

To me, it compares to processors - the highest, top of the line processor performs 3% faster than it's next model down, and costs 30% more.

Don't get me wrong - I really do think it's a sweet bike - it's just overpriced in my book.

Most people can't wring 80% of the performance out of a CBR600, so it's really not about that. It's about owning something that's as close to a GP bike as you can get without actually buying a GP bike for a million or whatever they'd go for if you could even get your paws on one.

As for the price, they sold out in under an hour, so I guess it was reasonable. :p

There's a sucker born every minute - I've seen a lot of minutes ;)

Honestly, I see the value here more from a collector's perspective than a rider's - no different than people buy limited edition Ferraris on the assumption the value would go up.

Probably true to some extent. IIRC, the production is limited to 1500 bikes.

Awww, man you *had* to ruin an otherwise great discovery for me. This is the first i have heard of this bike and have loved Ducatis for a long time. However, knowing that the freaky piece of shit is getting the first off the line, im now just meh about it. :|

Edit: I just had a redeeming thought, maybe freaky shit will take it up in the hollywood hills, dump it high side, and head straight back down to the pit that is hollywood missle-style. :)

I have seen and heard that bike in person. The Duck in the OP would eat that thing without a hic-up.

In a strait line you are going to need a dragster to beat the tomahawk even then, 400MPH top speed the duck does not do that. Yes it will beat the Tom if there are corners but in a strait line I think the Tom is the fastest. I could be wrong though, I sure am not going to test either of those out.
