It's more or less the GP bike with lights. The price is "reasonable" when you start breaking down the amount of work that went into these bikes.Originally posted by: rivan
I'm really not sure I see $72K there.
I mean, it looks like a nice ride, but that's overboard.

Most people can't wring 80% of the performance out of a CBR600, so it's really not about that. It's about owning something that's as close to a GP bike as you can get without actually buying a GP bike for a million or whatever they'd go for if you could even get your paws on one.Originally posted by: rivan

Except that, in practice, you can get 97% the awesome factor for 20% of the cost. Take the savings and make your base bike faster/better if you really want. I'd be surprised if there's a rider on this board that could push that less-expensive bike to it's limits.
To me, it compares to processors - the highest, top of the line processor performs 3% faster than it's next model down, and costs 30% more.
Don't get me wrong - I really do think it's a sweet bike - it's just overpriced in my book.

Probably true to some extent. IIRC, the production is limited to 1500 bikes.Originally posted by: rivan

There's a sucker born every minute - I've seen a lot of minutes
Honestly, I see the value here more from a collector's perspective than a rider's - no different than people buy limited edition Ferraris on the assumption the value would go up.

I have seen and heard that bike in person. The Duck in the OP would eat that thing without a hic-up.
