I'm looking for some really cool piano tunes, just ones that are real deep in the "groove" if y'know what I mean. They can be rock, pop, funk, new orleans, whatever. If you suggest something classical, then you don't understand what I'm asking for. ;) I've got classical CD's coming out the butt, so that's not what I'm looking for here. Thanks.

EDIT: I can't figure out to ask this question the way I want to...so I'm just gonna let this thread die til I figure out a better way to ask...thanks guys...

See sig. ;) I'm already a HUGE Ben Folds fan. I've heard every single thing he's recorded, whether or not it was ever released on a record. At least I think-if there's something out there I haven't heard I'd like to know about it! ;)

Ben Folds? LOL. Sure, if you want white-boy groove. If you want REAL groove, check out Joe Zawinul(yea he's white, but he isn't Ben Folds white), or Herbie Hancock. For Hancock get his Headhunters album or his new one Future2Future. With Zawinul, pick up anything, but the stuff he did with Cannonball Adderly Quintet grooves so hard, it'll put your butt to sleep from it shaking so much.

Oh, and if you inclued B3 organ as a "piano", pick up any Joey Defrancesco or Jimmy Smith album. Nothing but dirty, funky, nasty, I'm-tellin-your-mama groovin with those two.

Well, Ben Folds, as awesome as he is, is not 'groove'. So he's not really what I'm looking for. And hey, white boy music isn't bad! Hehe.

As for Herbie Hancock-I already have Head Hunters, it's a great album but there isn't a piano on there man. ;) See the title of the thread...I'm looking for piano stuff.

Bumble Boogie- B.Bumble +the Stingers.

This is the quintessential boogie woogie song from the 60s.

<< George Winston - Peanuts Theme Song >>

a) I'm sure you're thinking of "Linus and Lucy"
b) That's by Vince Guraldi, not George Winston
c) That's not groovin. ;)

OK, well I'll go ahead and suggest Alicia Keys... is she "groovin'"?

I guess I'm not sure what you define as groovin'? We must have different definitions because I would say that some of Ben Folds' stuff is groovin'.

Well I'll also suggest the Vanessa Carlton track "A Thousand Miles". She's sort of Michelle Branch-ish, but she's also a classically-trained pianist (and it shows through in the song). I actually really dig the song... it's got a great hook. Just check it out and you'll see what I mean.

Maybe suggest some artists/songs you think are groovin' and I'll have a better idea of what you're looking for.

l2c

Edit: Everything I'm suggesting has vocals... are you looking for instrumentals?

If you want the thread to die probably best to put nm
otherwise you might turn this into a nef-a-thread ;)
