7128 3dMark05 score!!!!!!!

I just put together my new pc:

X2 3800
EVGA 7800gt
EVGA SLi MB
1 gig of crucial pc4000 ram
200gig HD

This is all at stock specs and stock cooling. I plan on OCing my processor to 2.3ghz, maybe 2.4ghz and my video card hoping to break the 8000 mark. If anyone can help me OC my video card or show me a guide that would be great. Also a link to dl coolbits would be very helpful, I searched the net and got a corrupted file that messed up my registry already.

A little slow for your system @ stock, but not too too far off. 8k is a reasonable goal.

Stick a custom heatsink on that CPU, OC it like mad, then OC the 7800GT like mad (assuming you have the CO version).

Just activate coolbits manually.

Nah, that is just fine for that system at stock speeds. But I agree that a little over 8k should be doable depending on how well his 7800GT will overclock.

I got 7150 on a system with a slower cpu and pc3200 ram.

I'm getting 7069 with nothing in my system overclocked and default NVIDIA ForceWare settings. (Didn't try to make it high by rebooting/etc.)

Download the Xtreme-G 81.95 drivers. They improve the image quality a bit, plus they come with Coolbits enabled by default. They can be found here. If you'd just like to enable Coolbits manually (very easy), here is a good guide.

Your CPU is not the bottleneck. Faster RAM and overclocking your GT will do much more for 3DMark05 then overclocking your CPU . . .

Anyway, oc that processor and hit the autodetect in the advanced video properties and you will be pretty much set 😉

Why is everyone saying faster RAM? RAM doesn't make much of a difference in gaming performance. Large CPU clock differences and the GPU make the biggest differences.

You think cpus make a huge difference in gaming? They don't at the resolutions we are now playing at 1600 X 1200 and 1920 X 1200 (me 🙂 ). XBITLABS had a major review of cpus and high resolutions and found the graphics card is what really determined your fps/quality. I wouldn't pair a 7800GTX and a PIV 1.8 (even though we can't really) but the idea is the same.

Disreguard the nay-sayers. 7128 is a good/normal score for a stock EVGA N518 7800GT w/ your CPU. I asume you have a N518 7800GT @ 445/1070. This is the card that comes with the EVGA mobo combo. I got About the same score with the same set-up and a 3500+. The X2 will only normally only help at higher rez, i.e.: 1600x1200. You'll be able to hit 8K with just a video card overclock. Try around 470/1150. I got 510/1250 out of my N518, and hit 8087. Try Guru3d for overclocking utilities. I use nTune ver.3 and Rivatuner.

He didn't ask how to increase his gaming performance, he wants to make his default 1024*768 score better 😛 Substantial difference there...
