What about the temp bug? Oh and the widescreen DVI problem?

Not that it matters to me since I will no longer have an SLI system, but hey for the people that it would affect.

yes those dell widescreen res's are fixed

Uh, no they're not. There's nothing in the relase notes indicating that the widescreen DVI problem has been resolved with the new driver.

The DVI widescreen bug is NOT SOLVED! Look here.

I wish people would only post things here that they knew for sure. Particularly when it involves spending upwards of $2500 for an SLI rig and a minimum of $450 for a widescreen monitor.

Pfft.
The "widescreen problem" is overrated. You can still run those couple games that support widescreen at a "normal" aspect ratio.

couple of games + tiny percent of monitors = probably not at top of nVs to-do list
(not to mention the only game people seem to care about is ATIs bought and paid for HL2)

If not being able to run HL2 widescreen today is worth trading running most modern games at higher resolution/detail settings to you, you should probably not buy SLI and slog around with a single card?

For that matter, what do you care about SLI at all for Woofmeister? Not really affecting your 9800Pro or 19" CRT?

How about because I'm in the middle of building an SLI rig and I am waiting to buy a Dell 2405 until this problem is resolved?

And I disagree with you that widescreen is only supported in a "couple of games," the number of native widescreen games currently available far exceeds the number of games with native SLI support. Add in the number of games you can play in widescreen with a mod and that's a huge number of games.

SLI and widescreen are both on the leading edge of game graphics right now. It is ridiculous that the technologies cannot be combined without a jury-rigged solution like windowed gaming or using the analog interface. Particularly at this price point.

Oh, and I'll bet you that support for dvi widescreen jumps right to the " top of nVs to-do list" if ATI Multi Rendering doesn't suffer from the same bug when it comes out.

But all games support SLI through the control panel 😉 you dont even need to "mod" it.

I don't understand what you mean. "games do not support SLI"; SLI supports the game. In other words, the games either have an SLI profile associated with them as written by NVIDIA (i.e. Native SLI), or (as of ForceWare Version 71.89) users can create their own SLI profiles using CoolBits.

Of course, in order to do that, you have to edit the Coolbits registry file and then apply the registry setting. Then you manually create a profile associated with the specified .exe file for the particular game and then manually choose from three alternative rendering modes and hope you've got the right one. If not, you have to go back and start the whole process all over again. Sounds alot like modding to me!

And the issue is not whether or not SLI can now be utilized with more games, it unquestionably can and with the latest driver, even more games can utilize SLI if you're willing to take the time to creat the profile.

The issue is whether or not the 71.89 WHQL drivers fixed the SLI widescreen dvi bug and, contrary to what was posted earlier on this thread, it didn't.

The postings on these forums show a huge interest in both SLI and widescreen panels, I'm just trying to make sure that nobody here makes a bad buying decision based on inaccurate information.

Perhaps if you had finished the SLI rig and were using it, you'd realize Acanthus is right.

You can run SLI on every game that doesn't have a profile with a drop down menu enabled by Coolbits. You simply select AFR, AFR2, SFR, or Single Card for the default rendering option.
