Unfortunately most young people these days don't like movies like Logan's Run or Soylent Green because they do not have over the top special effects in them. I actually prefer them because they don't.

I actually prefer the original The Haunting over the remake for precisely that reason(less visual effects). Sometimes less IS more.

Exactly. The original Haunting is excellent and suspenseful while the remake is meh at best.

Logan's Run (2010) ;)

They've changed the age for the Carousel from 30 to 21? Lame...

While this is indeed a movie that could benefit from today's CGI technology, it should be done right and not re-write the entire story.

Logan's run had a spin-off TV series that I vaguely remember seeing as a very young kid. I have sort of dreamy recollections of it.

I do remember Kojak in an episode.

I've tried to find it over the years to buy it but no luck so far.

Because it's obvious from your posts you don't get out much.

This remake has been in production for last 3 years.

You should be due for Carousel

You are kind of like a Raccoon....whatever you cannot eat you shit on.

I don't think I like the idea of encouraging teenage pregnancy, how else would the population survive? And parenting? In a film which will be shown to mostly a similar age group..

Saw this when it first came out, yes, I'm like senile or something. Because I knew people who worked in the theaters I would always watch the Farah scene, the whole audience would erupt in boos when she said her line, she was very stiff back then. Rimshot for whatever association you come up with for Farah and stiff please.

Ummm, it was 21 in the book. The movie changed it. They've said that they're trying to stay very true to the book this time around.

me thinks you need to re-watch the movie.

In the opening Francis and Logan are arguing about who is the birth mother of a new sandman. Francis says it could have been Jessica 6.

Obviously someone is getting pregnant.

It was one of the first "old movies" that I watched on my own accord as I was growing up. I was probably 12 at the time, and it was on Encore. It looked weirdly interesting and Sci-Fi so I gave it a chance. I'm glad I watched it. Plus, there's a cute chick with a boob shot. Which was far better than getting off to scrambled Playboy/Spice channels.

Holy shit...a quick wikipedia search sez you're right...and there was no carousel either...
I can only blame the ravages of time, it's been way over 30 years since I read the original novel...but don't remember if it was before or after the movie came out.

Over the top acting > Over the top CGI

I thought they had Pools for that? Maybe I'm thinking of a different Movie. Ah well, doesn't matter much, it is only a recent(historically speaking) social norm that looks down on Teen Pregnancy.

Which first: Should I read the book or see the film? Option C: Wait and see the remake.
