I wouldn't mind a 1971 Buick GSX:
- 1/4 mile: 13.38@105.1 mph 0-60: 5.5 sec
The GS really came into its own in 1970 when Buick installed its 350-hp 455 V8. The 455 boasted an incredible 510 ft.-lb. of torque at just 2800 rpm. The Stage 1 option was rated just 10 hp higher (same torque), yet bone-stock the car could run the quarter mile in the low 13 second range at about 105 mph. - Text
As fast as the LS1s. Kinda pathetic what 30 years or progress and technology have done.
I saw a white one of those in a driveway in my neighborhood with a for sale sign on it yesterday....car looked mint. Texas, before you ask.Originally posted by: Eli
I want this car so bad....
Seriously. It's exactly what I've been looking for.
A rare 4 seater manual(most are autos...yeah, yeah.. I know they're sports cars and therefor the standard 2 seats is appropriate, but having 4 seats is just worth it to me. I do have friends, you know.)
Blue(my favorite color)
Excellent condition inside AND outside.. no rust..
Why does it have to be in flippin' bumfsck Florida?
🙁

Thanks, but that's not what I am looking for.Originally posted by: Roger
There's a 71 Merc Montego with a 302 auto for sale across the street from me for $1,700.

The point is, there is NO SUBSTITUTE for cubic inches. Even today, few sports cars even equal that 30 year old technology in 1/4 mile performance. That's pathetic. Imagine what a couple thousand dollars worth of EFI could do with a big block, not to mention a few thousand dollers worth of blower!
First off all cars built today are set with understeer, secondly most of the cars from the 70's handle just fine for the power they are packing. It's when you cram engines into tiny cars that have most of the weight in the front that need special suspensions to compensate for a lack of balance.Originally posted by: phantom309

Try to keep that in mind as your Buick understeers into the ditch at speeds that wouldn't even scuff the tires of a modern performance car.
