Well if you go with Jpeyton's setup you can sell your current 6800GT for around $270/$280 on ebay or For Trade/Sale forum. If you want to pay a little extra you can go with the San Diego.

If your gonna go s754 w/ clawhammer, this is a good cooling fan (venus12). Cooled my friends newcastle after oc'ing (3200 to 2.55ghz w/ arctic silver5) to 35c idle & doesnt go over 40c even full load. For s939, XP-90 is good w/ your own choice of fan.

LOL I happen to be using a similar model to that right now. Honestly I think I have a newer model though because mine is a little bigger and has a grate to cover the fan. Can cool very well, but noisy as hell.

DFI just released a LanParty NF3 with AGP.

I'm talking about the DFI LanParty UT, which is a 754 board. Honestly people wake up.

I'm using Newegg, just because it's a "standard". I'm showing a 754 option, simply because you have an existing AGP card, and I personally feel it's pointless to go 939 if you have an AGP card.

CPU
AMD Athlon 64 3700+ ClawHammer/Hammer Integrated into Chip FSB 1MB L2 Cache Socket 754 Processor Retail - $264.00

Motherboard
DFI LANPARTY UT nF3 250Gb ATX AMD Motherboard - $103.00

DVD
NEC Black IDE DVD Burner Model ND-3540A - $48.00

HD
Seagate Barracuda 7200.8 200gb 3.5" Serial ATA150 Hard Drive - $108.00

Case
Antec Life Style SONATA Piano Black 0.8mm SECC Steel ATX Mid Tower Computer Case 380W Power Supply - $89.99
comes with a quality 380w psu, and it's quiet

Total = $612.99

The 3700 will OC to 2.7 failrly easily, many people will still tell you to go 939, o well.

winnar...gonna be the fastest you can get for the money

Ahhh nice to see someone else that isn't like "omg 939 venice or die!".
For AGP, 754 is your winnar.

Yea and that chip is 2.4 stock so 2.7 isn't like a huge overclock.. My friend has his at 2.7 with a Zalman 7000ALCU.

Yes, honestly now people, wake up...

You can go Socket 939 and keep your AGP video card. Might as well; the price difference between the older NF3-250GB board that Dan linked and this newer NF3-Ultra board is only $23, and that buys you support for the latest Socket 939 processors, dual channel memory, better onboard sound, and a better overclocking motherboard (people are reporting the NF3 Ultra-D is overclocking just as well as the NF4 Ultra-D).

Pair it with a 3500+ Venice.

but fact of the matter is it won't be as fast(and may cost more) than the system posted by dan. most often the point for going with a 939 system would be upgradeabilty(pci-e..) but the fact that he has a AGP video card that he wants to use nulls that point so it makes sense to go with a 754 system that will be faster for his money. if he didn't have a video card that he wanted to use then 939 would make sense so he could eventually go dual core, better video...etc. but since thats not the case i can see no advantage of 939.

Agreed, as I said if you are going AGP there is really no point in getting s939, unless you plan on upgrading your CPU somewhere down the line w/o buying a new mobo, which most people rarely do. 754 is teh value.
