If you have ideas to cut costs by a considerable ammount without losing too much performance I will be happy to hear them.

Edit - @ krnmastersgt

But do you think this bundle PSU will be good enough to run this rig? I'm just looking for a computer that is good enough. I like performance and quality but right now it's about budget and being okay. Future upgrades can be made to the psu.

Edit - Looking at the reviews for the case I see a buyer who is using this case and has a GTX260 for two months without any hiccups. Maybe I can be lucky like this too.

That should probably be viewed as the exception, not the rule. Also look above for a recommended way to shave some money off your build.

I looked at the parts you showed me and I love the motherboard. I don't plan to upgrade RAM and don't plan to use crossfire with a graphics card. it shaved a good ammount of money. The processor looks just as good as the AMD one. I'm at $649.55 INCLUDING the shipping. Good work.

If I get rid of the 50 dollar case and PSU combo I have around 100 so dollars to mess around with.

Well since you're waiting about a week or two before you order, there's an Intel cpu price slashing later this money, the E5200 should be dropping almost $20 in price, and it's still a damn good chip.

The savings from all this could be put towards this OCZ 500w, take advantage of the rebates, even if you have your whole system set-up for under your budget, more money never hurts and it's just a small form + phone call if they decide to cheat you.

For the case, if you were serious about just needing something that works. Just go to Newegg's case section, hit Free Shipping, price by Lowest and just choose something from that page. Most good cases have better airflow and all, but your components luckily are pretty cool anyways, and you can always upgrade the case later with little to no problems. The PSU is one component you definitely don't want to skimp on in the beginning, since it could potentially harm all the components you're investing in if it goes bust.

Why so partial to the HEC cases? There's cases for half the cost (don't know what you think of them aesthetically) so up to you on case choice, and the 4830 isn't a big card, it should fit in almost all the cases there.

And the price cut is later in the month, it should drop to around $63-5.

Huh....I swear there was a $20 Rosewill there earlier... In any case you might want to find a local store or something and just buy the absolutely cheapest case they have. Newegg seems to be $36 with shipping, $40 without so a local store is probably your best bet.

I still suggest you look at your local stores, might get lucky there. There's also a few more "budget" offerings for the case I could pull up if you want.

Well, there's this that I used for the $300 budget system that soxfan was looking for, it's not the nicest thing...okay maybe one of the ugliest cases I've ever seen, has a weird foot in the front, looks like it weighs a ton, and the shipping is more than twice the unit cost. But here it is: 8-Bay MM3750 Screwless ATX Computer Case - No PSU (Beige)
The shipping should be about $14 as far as I can tell, so a total of $20 shipped.

It also seems mwave has some HEC case for a bit less, shipped:
HEC 6C28BS8S (black/silver) ATX mid tower, $2.31 shipping for my zip code. total of just over $30 shipped.

This... This is the first time I judge a case by its cover. I... just can't do it. Even at the cheap cost. I can't. I'm going to just find a generic case on newegg and hope for the best.

The HEC shipped isn't that bad, a few dollars less than the Linkworld one on Newegg. Just comes down to which you think looks better I suppose.

Or if you ARE willing to wait for the rebate, and the suggestions from before saved you enough money, there's this case which is aesthetically the superior to all the cases we've looked at, and it's much cheaper after it's gargantuan rebate. $10 Raidmax anyone?

Personally I think the 20 dollar rosewill looks the best. and considering it looks like a quality case for a decent price I'm sticking with it. taking off the video game and just with all the computer builds together is at $666.54! It looks near complete but I'll wait a little longer to get fixing it to get all my moneys worth. Hopefully at the end of this I will afford to buy cod4

Did you look at the Raidmax? I know the huge green logo writing on the front is a bit gaudy, but it still looks pretty nice compared to the others. Plus it has a side window? Not sure if that's a plus or minus for you.

Nothing wrong with looking like a ricer as long as you aren't one :p

But yeah, it has a bit too much flash to look tasteful. Just offering a suggestion.

Okay, now I'm starting to freak out a little bit. The DVD drive I want to use into my new build is using the ribbion style IDE cable. Will my motherboard be allow to use this? Also now that I think of it with all the parts picked out will I have all the cables I need for the build?

Unless you bought barebone motherboard or oem parts, they should all come with cables.
Also, as far as I know, motherboards still come with IDE (PATA) .
Lastly, it would help everyone if you updated your first post or added a new post with your most current selection of components.

It would probably be more helpful if you just set up a list like this:
Cpu: link
Mobo: link, and so on since it's making the people who're trying to help you do extra work if they have to view the image and then check for the item on Newegg themselves. Build looks pretty complete to me, without extra budget room to take advantage of a few rebate offers, not much I can see an improvement on in terms of price/performance. And the board does have 1 PATA/IDE connection, so you can hook up 2 IDE devices in slave-master, the rest will have to be SATA however.

Sorry about my last post. I failed to look at the motherboards features before posting. I saw that it came with a SATA cable for my HDD and a PATA port for my dvd drive. Lack of looking before posting =[

This is a general question about monitors. I don't know how monitors really work besides being an output device. But if I wanted to use an old CRT monitor (think of late 80s-90s style) for use will it be good enough for gaming? Is there some disadvantage to a crt monitor that I should know of? I'm also wondering if the type of cpu you use like 32bit or 64bit affect which kind of monitors you can use.

Size and weight are the biggest disadvantages of a CRT monitor, along with the colors that they can output, bad CRTs have horrid color output. The type of CPU you use has no bearing on the monitor, like you said it's just an output device, it's more about personal preference than anything else.
