70% of homes in India don't have toilets

I bet this dude has a toilet:

Speaking of India, one of those dudes with the gold shirts got murdered a few months back.

And ya, third-world countries have sanitation problems. Turns out not cleanliness is a learned behavior.

shitting in the streets and being surrounded by 3 billion people makes people don't give a shit * pun intended*

Surprising. Usually the guys in the gold shirts are safe, the red shirts get whacked.

Nah, not surprising at all. In a country with that much poverty to walk around in a $250,000 shirt is like wearing a giant "Fuck You!! I'm better than all you losers" sign. It's going to create a few enemies who think you're due for an ass-kicking.

If they had toilet, would they use it? It's not like they use toilet paper.

The issue is access, not how you clean your ass. The usual story is women who don't have toilets in their houses have to go to fields to do their deed - usually alone, sometimes late at night. As you can imagine, safety is not guaranteed.

I used to hold it in at school because I hated pooping in public toilets. There is nothing like the sanctuary of home turf for taking a clean and peaceful dump. Peeing in public toilets is fine. Crapping? Less than ideal. Squatting and taking a shit anywhere? Unthinkable.

It's kind of mind boggling really, it's not like a toilet is that complex or expensive. I can understand no water or plumbing, but at least have an outhouse or something like that.

Sometimes I think to myself that I'd rather go out in the woods and use leaves than poop in some public toilets.

It's not just access. They provide toilets and encourage its usage, but many or most aren't into that shit.

While villagers remain ignorant of the dangers, about 100,000 tons of their excrement heads to markets every day on fruit and vegetables, according to Unicef, the United Nation’s children’s fund. Each gram of feces in an open field contains 10 million viruses, 1 million bacteria and 1,000 parasite cysts.

Interesting because I had the same problem at school when I was growing up but my issue with public toilets was their unsanitary condition. At least if you crap outdoors, you wont have to seat your bare ass on a public toilet. If I do really to #2 and cant hold it until I get home, I like to build a nest out of TP on the seat and sit on that.
