This is almost as bad as when Bobby Cox got to put as many Braves players as he wanted on the All Star Team.

I don't see why winning the World Series gives you the right to put whoever you want from your team in the All Star lineup when there are more deserving people who should be in the game.

The organization itself, MLB, is really starting to disgust me. I've loved the game all my life, and if there's a strike after this season, it's going to take more than a Home Run chase to bring me back.

you make it sound as if we only won the World Series once, or as if our team has become crappy since winning the world series.

What does winning the World Series any amount of times have to do with who should be in the All Star game?

The selections should be based on how valuable you are to your team and your overall performance - defense and offense.

The All Star game is a joke this year:

Olerud over Giambi??
Ripken over Glaus??

It's turned into a popularity contest, which it shouldn't be.

If it hadn't been for the '99 All Star game at Fenway where The Splendid Splinter made an appearance, Big Mac hit homers over the Monster, and Pedro dominated, the last several games would have been really boring. It's become nothing but an exhibition game, but most importantly a popularity contest.

Which of the 7 don't you think deserve to make the all-star team?

Roger: 12-1 3.5 something era. most dominant pitcher in the AL (with pedro on the dl)

Andy: 2.95 era. definately deserves it. dominating lefty

Jeter: well he's just derek :) numbers just don't show what this guy does for a team. he's also in the top 10 in hits.

Bernie: Has been absolutely on fire for the last month and a half. batting 324. and was player of the week or month or something.

Jorge: Having the best year of any catcher by far in the AL. batting 309, 13 homers and 61 RBI. pudge isn't even close. and unlike piazza can actually throw people out.

Mo: Most dominating reliever in the majors BAR NONE.

Stanton: Dominating lefty. 1.91 era, over a strikeout per inning. Not sure if you guys saw this, but a week or 2 ago, stanton came on with a man on first and 3rd, no out. Get's out of it without giving up a run. There isn't a lefty reliever out there I'd rather have on my team. (assuming i could afford $500 million to buy one :) )

joe torre was defending his picks and he wasn't doing a good job of it.

while everyone was deserving, there are some DEFINITE snubs. you can't always look at numbers alone but what a player also means to a team.

this isn't an allstar game. this is the yankees/mariners vs. the NL

Torre is definitly giving preference over his little minions. Petite in my opinion shouldn't be there, and bernie shouldn't be there. As for Rivera, I feel kazu is better than him, more pitches than rivera can thow. Stanton is good too, but what about Jeff Nelson, Arthur Rhodes.
I guess if other managers are in torre's position, he would be more favorable towards their team. I know I would

Cool, that assures that the National League will win.
