IMHO thats not happening until "Win RT 8.5", when they get completely rid of the desktop and go 100% "what used to be metro". Using the desktop part on a 7" would be a nightmare and hight PPI could make it even worse.
Well, I guess the desktop part could be solved by having a higher DPI scaling setting? You don't have to squeeze so much on the screen as long as it's showing enough?
True, but imagine office and file explore and other desktop stuff in a windowed mode, that doesn't make much sense, it would be an experience worse then the first netbooks.
There's nothing really stopping it from happening now as I believe the Windows RT specs state that the minimum screen size is 7", though every device has been at least 10". However, Microsoft has to approve the concept so no one has tried anything radical.
