And I must ask, because I always wondered about this......BMW advertises the build the Ultimate Driving Machine. So, which one is it? BMW has like a bazillion models now....which one is the ultimate one? And does that make their other models the penultimate driving machines?

When they came out, the competition was lacking. No there are just too many other cars I'd rather have.

Not even the best M3, by a long shot. Find a good E30 (getting hard to do) and hold on to it. Then there's the E28 M5, which is more common and just as satisfying.

I always thought E46 M3 was one of the worst sounding cars BMW (or just about any car maker) ever made.

Sounds like crap, especially when you consider how awesome E36 sounded......

PS. Exhaust doesn't fix the fact either.

Manuals are always more fun than automatics, all else considered.

The engines on these sound so bad. Either way, they are pretty out-dated cars by today's standards.

I've owned E46 M3, have no desire to own an E92. They got fat and soft.

Also the CSL airbox noise is simply unmatched
