7 Night Caribbean Cruise for $230-$250 per person AR

I found this on travelocity and I think it's a great deal. Next week is spring break for VA tech so I think I'm gonna go. You can choose from one of three different ships for about the same price. I already called and with taxes the $250 per person is $335 per person and then you get $175 cash back 8-10 weeks after the cruise in the form of a prepaid mastercard. I think this is cheap as hell considering it includes all food ect... I've never been on a cruise but I've read that you have to watch out for them charging you a lot for tipping and alcholic drinks.

Doesn't that make it $75 per person before taxes or is the $250 after the rebate?

Let us know...I need a vacation some kind of bad. I could swing $75 for a 7day/6night cruise.

Rebate is per stateroom, not per person.

From the above link:

  • This offer is valid for new bookings only and is per stateroom, not per person.
  • Credit for previous purchases is not permitted. Guests who previously booked, cancelled and then rebook during this period are not eligible.
  • For most cruise lines, cash reward is in the form of a pre-paid MasterCard Card and will be sent eight to 10 weeks following your cruise. Pre-paid MasterCard Card will be valid six months from date of issue.
  • This offer is applicable on most sailings between March 1, 2003 and December 31, 2003. For additional terms and conditions, as well as complete cruise line restrictions

Nice. IIRC, you need 2 people (or at least have to pay for 2 people) per stateroom... might be just certain ships with that policy.

Excursions (Optional entertainment -- things you do on the mainland while docked) can get pricey... $50-75 per person per thing.

Tips are for folks taking care of you and your room. I think it's recommended at like $5-10/day for the various people (Room Attendant, Head waiter, and someone else). Been a while... I might be wrong. You don't have to pay but it's 'expected'.

Offer Details

Get up to $150 cash back when you book a qualifying cruise by February 28, 2003. Plus, if you use your MasterCard, you can get a total of up to $250 cash back - that's up to an additional $100 just for using your MasterCard.

Does this come with or without the unknown sickness onboard the cruise ship? 😉

I signed up for the Carnival Victory, I'll send you all pics next week when I get back. My boat leaves from Miami Sunday.

The local FOX TV affiliate in Austin, TX did a report on these 'to good to be true' trips. They had a travel agent research a caribbean cruise for $300. The travel agent found out that the $300 trip will actually cost you $800+, as it doesn't cover airfare to and from the trip, also port taxes, etc...

Well I'm driving down and parking my car with a friend that lives down there so I don't have to pay for parking. Excluding gas this trip is gonna cost me $250 after I get the rebate in 8-10 weeks plus tip and alcoholic drinks.

whats all this about tiping.
I can make my own bed, i dont need some boatmonkey to clean my room
and hold my hand.

🙂

When we had went on a cruise last year May they charged my room card $15 per person for tip charge per day . It didnt seem like it was something that i was able to fight also . I though this was a pretty hefty charge for the 4 of us who shared one room . We had to pay $420 just in tip charges . Granted their service is great and out of this world .. But it just was one of those things i wasnt expected to pay when i had purchased the trip .

Actually, on the cruise I'm looking at on Travelocity.com, these were the basic terms:

Your Cruise Includes:

  • Shipboard accommodations, ocean transportation, meals, some beverages, onboard entertainment, daily activities, port charges, and most taxes
Please note: Your package does not include shore excursions, personal expenses, gratuities, or alcoholic beverages.
Optional Add-Ons: If you would like to add hotel stays or transfers to your cruise vacation, you may be able to do so while making your online booking (based on availability).

Just note - the prices you see are basically for double occupancy. If you're travelling alone or are 3 in a group, it will cost more per person. Also, the cash back is per room, double occupancy, not per person.

What cruiseline is it??

It's actually on all cruise lines, all dates except certain holidays.

"Travelocity's largest cruise sale ever is on now! Our fourth annual Cruise Super Sale allows you to travel in style and enjoy extraordinary savings on virtually every sailing this year on all major cruise lines. "

Carnival Cruise Lines
Celebrity Cruises
Crystal Cruises
Disney Cruise Line
Holland America Line
Norwegian Cruise Line
Princess Cruises
Radisson Seven Seas
Royal Caribbean Int'l
Windstar Cruises

Check out the new grand style princess ships (grand princess, coral princess, golden princess)

Just got off the Grand Princess last week, and the food and service is out of this world.

BE AWARE THAT PRINCESS IS THE ONLY CRUISE LINE THAT WILL LET YOU BOARD THE SHIP UNLESS YOU'RE OVER 21.

Have been on the Royal Carribean Voyager and Adventurer flagship boats, which are a lot more fun than the Princess. Food and service are equivalent.

Carnival's much a beer and beef boat...party hard and the food's decent.

If you want to see some pictures of the Grand Princess (yeah my canon s230) drop me an email.

Total for a cruise that cost $540 with taxes
500 for last minute airfare to FLL from BOS
70 in tips billed to the room
100 bucks for scuba diving
50 bucks for snorkeling
$1260 and thats before you spend money in the ports. Make sure to hit sr frogs!
