5 Minutes to go until 28th Day Horde and I just had to stop for the night. Just felt all panicky working on my defenses and sweating profusely.

I love the game, no other game has made me dread so much. It's probably gonna kill me IRL though. :D

Agreed fun game

Newest patch seemed to screw up the 7 day hoards and overall spawns once you clean an area out it stays pretty bare

do the zombies still automatically know where you are at night and swarm you even if you are in the middle of nowhere with no zombies nearby?

Do they still dig to get to you as well?

I've heard that 7 days and Alien Isolation are both very stressful experiences. I want to play them but I'm really bad with the waiting horror they both use.

Alien: Isolation is one of the most intense gaming experiences I've ever had. It got a little better when I got to where I could use the flame thrower to shoo it away for a brief time, but then I ran out of fuel and wanted to soil myself as I hid in a vent and tried not to cry.

10/10 A+ would get hunted by a psycho free-roaming xenomorph AI again.

Edit: Audio is very important in that game. If you don't have 5.1/7.1 or a good set of headphones that can simulate it, it might be worth looking into. I played it with my Logitech G933s and being able to hear it rustling in vents behind me was crucial. I do have a 7.1 system as well, but the intimacy headphones offer made it more intense.

Is it PvP?

It can be or it can be single player or it can be multiplayer running on your home machine that only steam friends can join however this route doesn't perform that great but it could be my aging machine too just be aware

Yes and no night time is when you want to hunker down zombies move fast at night and seem to hit harder. 7 day hoards that are designed to kill you generally spawn near your base/camp but that is the whole point of the game. The last patch seemed to reduce the number of zombies in general which is good and bad personally I prefer many zombies and frequent hoards. They do sometimes dig for you they added a heat map, essentially the longer you stay in an area and the more forges/camp fires you have will attract more attention.

It's been months since I've played the game and I couldn't play it by myself. I ran with my bro and nephew and it was a blast. Fired it up again recently and couldn't play by myself. Was too intense lol. It is a great game though.

It seems like a game that need to be played mp as you cant build and scavenge by yourself or you cant survive, at least when i last played it which was quite a bit ago.

Its definitely more fun with friends but single player isn't bad. Game does get stale after you have a great base and tons of resources.

I've had the game since before A10 patch (I think April 2015) and the update to A13.6 has gone a long ways, but man yeah there are times where it gets really hard. I accidentally drank bad water and died of advanced dysentary because I couldn't find antibiotics to stop it. I play single player more often than multi, just a game I log in to kill time. At one point I had a decent house and zombies managed to come find me and basically destroyed my house, I was surprised at the strength they had to bust through my walls and I had to grab my items I stored and abandon that home and flee, managed to find a brick building and all has been good since then. TIP: drop landmines and spikes all around and dig a small moat.

I also have Rising World which is alright but a good game if you're a big fan of crafting and building, and had Savage Lands but didn't really like it and refunded that when Steam introduced refunds, also tried Rust and that's just... too aggravating running into other players that constantly harass, maybe I'll go back to Rust once it's closer to finished state.

^^^I've been trying to arrange a bear moat. Tough to find bears to chase you into the moat

Yeah, i find it odd how they could break through reinforced concrete in a matter of minutes.

So, after much self re-assurance, I started up the game and decided to take any fate that awaited me. Rush time sound came, then the wailing, and the pitter patter of little Zombie feet. I was doing some organizing during that, checking which weapons I had on me, arranging what was on my hot bar, making more shotgun shells, eating/drinking, etc. About 30 minutes passed before I looked over the edge of the roof of the brick building I was in to see what the horde was. There wasn't much left, some dogs dancing on my fully upgraded Log Spikes, some Ferals, and a few Cops walking in. All the regular Zombies were dead or slow crawlers that were dying on the gauntlet of wood spikes I had placed semi-randomly between randomly placed 2 high 3-4 block wide double upgraded Wood Frames. That defense system extended out from my building 20-30 blocks on all sides.

An hour or 2 into the horde it had become a trickle, 1 Zombie every few seconds would rush into the gauntlet, dying or making it to the building depending on what type they were. Things were going so well I mainly just shot at them with the crossbow, even though I was so far away I was only getting body shots, the spikes eventually killed them anyway. Used the Sniper Rifle a few times on Cops, but had limited Ammo as I only can make Shotgun Shells, still haven't found the book to make Bullet Tips.

2-3 hours in I got too close to the edge and fell a couple floors down onto some Wood Frames I had placed around my building to deal with the 14 Day Horde(a day that lives in infamy). That broke my leg, but I made a splint and got back to the roof. At that point I decided just to stay on the roof and wait out the last few hours. I could hear 2-3 Zombies pounding on some blocks in my building, other Zombies continued trickling in but were dying from the spikes. I was content to just wait for daybreak and clean the last few out.

Morning comes, I get off the roof onto the floor below and I look down the mostly destroyed(previous Hordes) stairway all the way to the ground floor. There are a couple dogs, 4 Ferals which were crawlers, and a few regular crawling Zombies that entered once in awhile. The dogs were killed with 6 Shotgun blasts, 1 of the Ferals also died from the shotgun at that distance. The rest slowly pathed their way up the stairs and I took them out one by one. Then I heard a Witch enter, so I stopped looking down the hole waiting for her to path up the stairs, which never happened as she wandered around the floor below and got stuck or something. So I went down there, found her and shotgunned her to the face before she could call in a horde. Finally, it was all over or I thought.

I go down stairs to survey the damage and it was pretty light. A couple foundation cement blocks, a brick block, and 6ish floor wood blocks were destroyed. Exited through the hole they made and looked around and things looked pretty good, I could hear this constant pounding on something in the distance though and occasionally a regular Zombie would come trickling in on the same path the Horde had used, it was very steady though, as if they were part of the Horde. I got outside my perimeter and as I did I began to isolate where that pounding sound was coming from, it was the house next to my building, but 70-80 blocks away from it. I went over to investigate it. As I drew near I could hear a flurry of activity going on inside and suddenly blocks were breaking, Cops were charging up vomit, and bees began swooping in. Over the next couple hours a whole Horde streamed out of there. Cops, Ferals, Spiders, Bees, Dogs, I even saw a bear in town which never happens(desert town) and I just stayed away from the bear which eventually despawned.

So most of the rest of the day was dealing with that. Most damage was from dog bites and Cop puke. Managed to loot the ferals/cops which was nice.

It dawns on me that if this Horde had not spawned in that house, I could have been totally screwed. It didn't though, so, whatevs. :D

td;dr I survived!

FYI - I saw that this is on sale for 55% off at the Humble Bundle sale that just kicked off (another thread).

That's about the best price I've on this game, so if you're interested you may want to grab it.

Seems dumb. "Here's our base building game, but oh by the way, there is no way to build a safe base."
Not only that but isnt the end goal of surviving the zombie apocalypse to find a safe place?

You still have to go out and scavenge for stuff to keep building or for food.

ha, I went there and saw ARK for $17.99, however being how crap the Canadian $ is right now, it ended up being $26.60 CAD, On Steam it's $32.99. That's not a as big saving as I would have hoped plus I have $25 in Steam wallet right now.

Mine craft is a base building game this is a zombie breaks in and you shoot it game. Maybe 7 days isn't for you and that is fine you are entitled to an opinion.
