I haven't gone outside to check it out, but I've seen vapor trails from stuff launched from Vandenburg at night. They look pretty cool.

I just walked outside. I couldn't see anything, it's foggy in the Marina.

When this has happened before, I've seen it on the news, so watch tonight if you want to see it, as long as it's a relatively slow news day.

I think it was a giant rainbow projected into the night sky to advertise a party hosted by Richard Simmons and Christopher Lowell from the Discovery Channel.

Uhh... they launched something (probably just a satellite) out of Vandenberg I think (Though I didn't think you could see that from LA). It's so freaking cool to watch them launch. This is probably the 3rd or 4th that I've seen, although usually they launch them at about 1am-2am.

if we saw the same thing, and i believe we did, the thing ended up over the sky in san diego around 7:35 pm. it was a very bright trail of smoke, and then a bright oval shape of big halo-like (looks like either explosion or separation of some sort?), and the front part of whatever it was kept going forward, then disappearing into the sky. it looked to me like a rocket, (or shuttle?), which separated away from the main booster rocket or whatever it's called. it was very pretty to look at.
