Would it be a good idea to cover up those 6x9's in some type of a sealed box, so the bass from the subs in the trunk, wouldn't push and distort the them?

basically your 6x9's could possibly blow.

or will be extremely distorted.

in order to get more bass in the cabin, just remove the 6x9's and your problem is solved.

Yes, you need to cover the 6x9's. I have two specially made boxes for that exact application. Let me know if you want a pic to see what i'm talking about

i have infinity kappa's up there, although they aren't 6x9's.

For my application it is.

I do not need more bass in the cabin. I just want cleaner sound.

Are those plastic covers for the 6x9's any good, or is a box made of mdf needed?

Listen to the man.
Once you become a car audio enthusiast, 6x9 becomes a waste of money.
If you really want good SQ, COMPS up front, subs in back.
Adding anything to the back will just distort the sound. Waste of money

I know what I need, and what I want. I'm not the only one riding in the car, and the rears become a must ESPECIALLY with subs in the back for the rear passengers. Also with the head unit I have, with the time alignment features, the rear speakers with most definitely not distort the sound.

Thanks for the input though.
