Looks like a great deal. The local Compusa wants $39.99 for this exact same product. I'll be in for one to upgrade my D-Link router 🙂

UPDATE 9/25 because it got bumped: Price is now $12.99 A/R plus shipping, instead of $10.99 shipped A/R.

Was just about to post this. Great deal. Mine is on its way. I'm trying to set up a wireless network for my church and my pastor's office, which is in a seperate building from the router, keeps loosing the signal because it has to go through 3 brick or cinder block walls. When I get this hooked up I'll tell you all if it did any good.

Nice deal, but it's an even better deal HERE.

$15 plus a $10 rebate.

And, if you buy it in-store, it's FREE after rebate. I have two of these hooked up to my WRT54G and they make a big difference.

I bouhgt one of these a while back for 5$ AR, and i am very impressed with it. Helped my wireless network tremendously. I would definatly recommend this

The connector is a Reverse SMA Plug.

The WRT54GC uses a RP-SMA connector (the same, I guess?) and the other WRT54G's use a TNC connector. There might an adapter plug to convert between the two.

RossMAN, since you didn't list your D-Link model #, I couldn't search for it.

Don't know how much it will increase signal strength thru walls but there is also the "Chinese cookware" antenna -
here and
here

Also - I think some of the Netgear routers do not have detachable antennas - so make sure your router is compatabile.

By the way I just bought one of the MEI's free usb adapters on Thursday and Fed Ex got it to me within about 24hrs.

According to this Article it did little to improve the signal on the D-Link. So it must fit the D-Link the HAI6DSP did improve the signal but it is only unidirectional.

isn't communication is both way that you need at least 2, one for router and the other for the adapter.

Thank you 🙂

According to here, it looks like the 524 has a detachable reverse SMA antenna. So, it should fit.

Edit: I just noticed that the newegg link says it has a TNC adapter. I assume the one at MicroCenter should also have it.

There are already antennas on both ends. With this antenna, you just trying to improve one or both ends.

The antenna improves quality even when it's only at one end because in increases TRANSMIT and RECIEVE. So while putting an external antenna on both ends certainly helps, even on one end (ie. just the router) will increase range.

I can tell you for sure that it definitely improves signal strength. I have a WDS setup between my house and my buddy's across the street, and with the standard WRT54G antennae he had to keep his router in his living room by the window to consistently communicate with mine. With these antennae just on my WRT54G and his still stock he can put his router in his basement on the backside of the house and they talk to eachother fine now. It was worth the net $10 investment!

i went with UPS GROUnd lol save myself some money

anwyas i'll give you fellas an update once i recieve it

I bought 2 of these at Fry's a couple of months ago when they were $7.99 OTD. It helps somewhat, but don't expect miracles.

I bought one of these. So far it has worked great, but there is some drawbacks to antennas. Hooking it up to the router really does nothing unless you have one at the pc. Sometimes its not the strength of the signal sent to the pc, but the signal the pc can send back.

I set mine up at my desktop pc and left the regular antenna on the dlink router. Connection went from 25% to a constant 85% without the constant drops i was getting.

Holy thread revival!

My antenna really helped with connecting via my laptop while outside of my house. Waiting on that $10 rebate now 🙂
