TFP is right. Disorders are manufactured because a cure for nothing doesn't sell. Feeling sad? No, it's "depression". Are you an emotional wreck? No, you're "bipolar". Bored by school? Nope, it's "ADHD". Rather listen than speak? Nope, you're autistic. Slap a fancy name on a state of mind and you've got yourself a target market because everyone wants an excuse. Hide behind the labels because shortcomings and failures mean so much less when it's not your fault. The ignorance it takes to believe that you can't overcome your own mind is unbelievable.

Let me just say that, as a gifted and perfect person in every conceivable way, and one who has conquered all traced of mental illness attributable to environmental factors and free also of all organic kind, you are one of the most worthless posters I have ever had the displeasure of reading. 😉

This. 1000x this.

The DSM did just dump 5 "mental disorders." Narcissism and histrionic personality disorder among them. Makes OT a more normal place, imo.

Are you an ignorant bastard in real life or do you just play one on the Internet?

Step Father to an Autistic person.

Oh my god you sir are a prick, Being bipolar is no more a "choice" than being black, or having one leg, you have no idea what you are talking about, try telling a schitzophrenic they are making it up. I never want to hear your moronic dribble again, you have just made my ignore list. goodbye.

Yea, but when you act like a giant douche and have failed to post a single constructive thing in 1744 posts, you quickly find yourself at the end of every personal attack in ATOT.

As annoying and retarded as TridenT is, even he isn't as fucked up as you are.

ESAD neckbeard. It's not as if I combed the country looking for a woman who had an autisitic son so I could marry her. Go kiss someone elses ass

Ok prick, I take back what I said, the point I was making was that a lot of people in this forum would bolt if they thought that the child of their partner was going to have extra needs than other kids.

GFUS. Sorry for being nice.

Well it could be worse, could have a fucked up asshole like you for a son.

That's not to say my stepson Mathew is a problem, he isn't, not in the least.

Hook. Line. Sinker.

They aren't choices, but to consider them insurmountable denies the potency of the human will. Everyone has ticks, everyone is weird, everyone has urges, wants, emotions, needs, feelings and failings. Too many allow themselves to blame them, coddle them, and succumb to them. And in return society fosters this behavior, telling them it's not their fault. Then everyone feels better because nobody's accountable. Why? Because it's easy. Much easier than having any degree of discipline or self control.
