Is that 900+ fps with a 9800gtx? hahahaha nice
I loved my Evga 9800gtx+1gb, nice card.

Now about the microstutter?
Do you see it as a issue?

Now I am feeling like I should just get a single card ... with all of these stuttering SLI/XFIRE issues.

I haven't used Crossfire recently enough to comment on CF, but I had a GTX 470 SLI rig prior to my GTX 580 and there was no stuttering or really any problems at all. I did have one bad card, but once I got that RMA'ed the system was rock stable. The only thing that gave it away that I had two cards installed instead of one was the performance.

Yep, thats with the 9800GTX. Great card for its time.

Microstutter. Honestly no I dont. But then again this is the first Crossfire setup I have ever used. Once I get the 560's, maybe it will seem different on the AMD cards. But right now, if it "is" microstuttering, it is so little a amount that I don't see it as an issue. Mostly because if it is there, I dont even notice it. But thats not to say it isnt doing it.

If any of that even made any sense. I think I just confused myself.

Sorry, for the old articles. They were meant to explain the issue rather than point the finger at the current GPUs.

I don't intend on dissuading people to get an XFire, as I want to get a second 6950 myself. Proof; I am shopping around for a XFire able motherboard. Just in case that micro stutters turns out to be a problem of the past.

MentalIlness; give Avril a spin to see some of that XFire goodness, and alleviate us others from the anxiety of micro stutter plagued XFire rigs. 😀
BFBC2 would be nice! 😀 😀

Yes I have, and I replied above. I just ordered a new mobo and CPU etc. so I should know by Friday night if it was my system or if it's still a problem. The thing is, micro-stuttering seems to be hard to chase down. Some people have zero problems with CrossfireX or SLI, some notice the stuttering. If it persists for me, I guess all it cost me was the $36 to send the second card back to newegg to try for 2 weeks.

You need to update this thread, or PM me your results...I haven't been able to see a lot of recent info on stuttering ... maybe it doesn't exist anymore??

Are you still running XP? How come the grass isn't pink? I thought AOE 2 had graphical glitches under 7?

Only system that is running XP still is the one with the 7750. No pink grass. I have AOE 1 + exp....AOE 2 + exp and no pink grass anywhere. Just installed the games, updated them, and played. That is it. These games are installed on the 9800GTX system.

I had the same problem. I havnt tried it since on my rig, but my laptop that has windows 7 32bit had the same problem, but increasing the resolution fixed it.

I already have a good link for good numbers/benchmarks ... more worried about the microstutter and if it's an issue still.

FWIW

We're glad to report, that in either CrossFire or SLI situations, no noticeable issues were observed in games we tested. For maximal eye candy, there is no need to wait - gamers need not traverse to the future to enjoy state of the art gaming.

Having spent the weekend playing all of my games with one card, then two cards I would say it's worth it.
I upgraded my core system so I think that really helps, the new SB setup is much faster than the old dual core.
I just finished playing Crysis at 1920 x 1200, very high settings and it was very fluid and nice. I would say that if you love to crank your games with everything maxed, it's a fairly cheap way to go. I didn't see any microstuttering at all, that was with some games vsync enabled, some not.
Btw I played Crysis, Borderlands, CoD-BO, CoD4, LFD 1 and 2, Just Cause 2, Fear 2, and some Bioshock.

And these were with the lowly 9800GTX in my sig. 🙂

Thanks for making me play the game again 😛

I used to get micro stutter running 2 5870s. BC2 and Black Ops had the most problems. Ironically MW2 was fine.

They were different models, If that makes a difference. I upgraded to x2 Sapphire 6870s, and had zero problems at all. My only real problem with crossfire is some games show no benefit, particularly WoW and SC2. The heat and power consumption makes it hard to justify. Picked up a 6950, flashed it to a 6970 and runs about the same as the 6870s in crossfire.
