During install and the first hour I've been running my old memory that was great with my x99 build - G.SKILL Ripjaws 4 Series 16GB (4 x 4GB) 288-Pin DDR4 SDRAM DDR4 3000.
However the system froze ~5 times while just setting things up so I just switched over to memory I had over-nighted by Amazon when I thought the system wasn't booting due to memory compatibility issues. Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB (2x8GB) DDR4 DRAM 3000MHz C15 Desktop Memory.
No freezes yet. I was hoping to just use my old stuff but I'll test longer and if it keeps freezing I'll have to figure something out.
And yes the 7820k is great (so is the 8700k really) but the 7820k and board were going to be $600 minimum vs $350 for this -- my goal was to keep this as cheap as possible. Just couldn't justify the 7820k. There is no performance reason for this move -- just for fun -- though these BIOS, RAM and labeling issues are kind of reminding me of why I switched from AMD in the first place years ago.
