According to http://benchmarkreviews.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=19007&Itemid=47

there has been 1 round of testing between the new 680m and the 7970m

1 Testing was conducted comparing the GeForce GTX 680M versus Radeon 7970M, running at a resolution of 1920x1080. Driver version used was 302.56 for 680M and cat 12.4 for Radeon. In 3Dmark Vantage P with PhysX enabled, 680M scored 25063 and AMD scored 20590. In Far Cry 2 Ultra-High 1xAA/AF, 680M scored 129.8 FPS while 7970M scored 112.6. Dirt 3 in Ultra 1xAA/AF, 680M scored 80 FPS while 7970M scored 64.5. For performance, a higher number is better.

just sharing the info I found on it... should be less than a week before we get legit reviews and benchmarks from this highly anticipated card

3dmark Vantage P = 680m-25063 vs 7970m-20590
FarCry2 = 680m-129.8fps vs 7970m-112.6fps
Dirt3 = 680m-80fps vs 7970m-64.5

I was one of the first kids hallin' round a gaming laptop in highschool. I feel it made me a slightly better sprinter.

Power and weight training all in one.

It is pretty crazy how powerful laptop GPUs have reached this generation. It seems the only thing left to catch up is battery technology. Hopefully with the demand of mobility as well as different car designs, battery tech can catch up to provide several hours of portable gaming or days of light usage.

Batteries in all technology is lacking. Even smart phones drain out quickly. You can do so much, but in 30min you need a charger.

It doesnt say that. I'm pretty sure its a gk104 300 vs. pitcairn which is like saying its a GTX670 compared to an HD7870.

I thought I misread entire article lol

As for batteries... I don't think its all on the responsibility of Battery Tech... Efficiency is where the future lies imho... Look what both AMD and Nvidia have been doing? Faster Cards that take less power and etc...

Great time to be a nerd =-D
