Well running a 1080ti and it seems like it's going out. Sometimes glitching and rebooting. I see a used 6800xt for 380 plus 30 ship. Also need a gfx card for a 4690s old setup with itx psu. A 1660ti would be best it can do? 4070 or 6800xt look good but also see 6750xt for 280. :/

Been waiting for a new gfx card for 5 years.

My advice: Do what you did last time, buy as much GPU as you can afford.

The 1660ti is more than enough for that old 4690S. I'd be looking for an AMD card for it though, since Nvidia driver overhead is going to exacerbate having a weak CPU already. A 5500XT 8GB or 5600XT is as much as I would consider spending. If it's just for backup, kids, or something like that? Even an old RX 580 8GB would pair okay.

Make sure it’s your GPU and not something like the PSU. A decent PSU is $70 or so and it’d be bad to slot in a 6800XT - which can hit a PSU hard - only have the magic smoke come out of even more components.

Weird issues like you are talking about are like 90% PSU in my experience.

Ok the 6800xt msi was 400 shipped so I got it. I see a rm850x shift but reviews show it worse then superflower and others. The current psu is evga platinum 800watt of some type recent purchase (year old?) Cpu 2700x last motherboard didn't boot with a spare 5600x so I will test if this one does after a bio update before eyeing any other cpu changes. The 2700x actually seems decent.

Thermaltake Toughpower GF3 850W

Looks good from review and 120 on Amazon (easy return if not needed)

I am sure that EVGA Platinum has a quality OEM but I got burned on a couple bad batches of EVGA PSU's and said never again. A rare "pass" for a brand & product from me, personally, but DOA units, PSU's dying after 3-4 months, and recycled Amazon "new" units was just too much BS.

Given the age of the motherboard, I guess I would also suspect that - just saying to keep an open mind on the troubleshooting front. The 6800XT is a beefcake of a GPU, so congrats on that either way! :)

I have never read anyone have such a bad experience with EVGA before. I have 5 of their PSUs in service at the moment. Even when I had a faulty fan inside of the 7yr warranty, they RMA'd it no hassles, and sent me a better model back.
