I bought a 6800xt agp for my computer yesterday. Install went smoothly etc. When I go to the nvidia control panel, its listed as 6800xt/gs, oh well thats a minor problem.

Before this card, I had a fx 5200. When I started up the comp with the new card, I'm getting these shadow effects. for example, say if type out the letter O, you can see "copies" of this letter O behind it like this, ) ) ), but not as noticable. Is there anything that can fix this? My fx 5200 didn't do this.

I also looked into unlocking extra pipelines and vertex shaders, but I'm not sure if I can. it says I have an extra vertex unit and pixel unit, and the state is "disabled", but under HW mask, it says n/a, is there a way I can still unlock the card? thanks

I think you need to reinstall your video drivers, especially with the newest ones if you havent.

download driver cleaner, uninstall nvidia drivers, restart in safe mode, run driver cleaner, install new drivers, restart in normal mode

That might fix your problem. Unlocking, I couldnt tell you what to do.

You can unlock using Rivatuner. I'm not entirely sure what the exact process is, but it's not too hard to find. Look around in the graphics card settings and you'll find it.

Yea, I reinstalled my drivers, I'm going to try 91.33 to see if that fixes the problem. As for the unlocking, I checked the guide, thats why I'm wondering If I can still unlock the addition vtex shader an pipeline, even though under hw mask it says N/A.

kk I installed 91.33 drivers and the problem is still there. When the resolution is at 800x600, the "copies" aren't there, but when I put it on my native resolution, 1280x1024, it appears.

That sounds like something is up with the cable. Make sure the monitor is connected to the card securely and the screws are tight. Also the latest NVIDIA drivers don't work ok for XT cards. You have to use the ones on the CD>.

Try different refresh rates. If you are using the VGA cable with an LCD monitor look for an Auto-Adjust setting. You will need to re-adjust any time you change refresh rates.

Yep, I just tried 60hz, 70hz, 72hz and 75hz, but problem still lies there. My lcd monitor's native resolution is 1280x1024 @ 60hz, so I leave it at that.
