6800XT PCI-e Coming soon from XFX.

XFX has had to have slept in Nvidia's bed to get such a juicy deal. As early as tomorrow it will go live with a Geforce 6800 XT PCIe card. It will be exclusive, at least for some time, as it got a huge chunk of these chips. We heard we are talking about 100,000 chips, cards if not even more. It can sell it especially at this price.

XFX Geforce 6800XT should end up faster than 6600 GT. Some key etailers have already been shipped supplies.

It is a PCIe card with 6800 core and 256 MB DDR 3 memory and 256 bit interface. Sounds like a good performer, especially when you know that it comes clocked at 350MHz core and 900MHz memory.

It has to have more than eight pipelines to beat 6600 GT at those speeds but we don?t know the count now. Tomorrow will probably tell.

The best stuff is that XFX will have them in etail for about $125 and will try to remain exclusive and will fight for that as much as it can. µ

PCI-e 6800nu's come stock with 325MHz 12 pipe cores, and dismal 600MHz DDR.
If this card is indeed 12 pipes, it should be substantially faster than the 6800nu. If not, It might just equal it. But a 125.00 price tag is nice.

6800XT's have been out for some time now.
Newegg has them ranging from $132 to $188


There seems to be mixed reviews though. Newegg has them spec'd at 8 pipes except for on particular card that has 12. Based on user reviews though, users are getting them in both 8 pipes and 12 pipes, with the majority of the 12 piped ones from eVGA.
There are also a couple of AGP versions of these cards as well.

It's going to be a 12 pipeline card. Hopefully the core can overclock well, because the memory is already well compensated. 900mhz GDDR3 vs. 600mhz DDR and 256MB memory vs. 128MB for $125 is amazing. Two of these overclocked in SLI might actually be a viable performance choosing for its price range.

I still don't get the big deal...sure for $125, its semi-cheap but you can also find x800s for the same price which perform around the same. But if someone wants to SLI a pair of theise cards, thats $250 and for $30 more, you can get the 7800GT. A pair of 6600GTs(slightly lower performance than a 6800NU) perform worse than a single 6800GT and I'll place bets that 2 6800XTs aren't going to perform that much better than a single 7800GT..

As far as performance goes, take a look at overclocked AGP NU's and thats about what you'll get for this card at stock speeds. We have no idea how it overclocks but at least we kinda know what it performs like out of the box and I'm not too impressed. That and you can find X800Xls going for ~150 in teh FS/FT forums

with those specs wouldn't the 6800xt be competing with the 6800gs

Galaxy 6800xt 425/1000mhz(8 pipelines) even with those clocks the Galaxy 6800xt is only marginally faster than the 6600gt...i don't get this card

I think a single 7800GT (with a GPU clocked at 445MHz or more) would generally be faster than SLI'd 6800XTs. The 6800GS is a little slower in some benches than a 6800GT and I believe SLI'd 6800GTs are only faster than a single 7800GT in some benches.

The 6800GS is a 12 pipe card with a 425mhz core speed, and usually 1ghz+ GDDR3 memory. A 6800XT with 350mhz core and 900mhz memory will offer somewhat similar performance, but it won't be competing with it. Now, if the 6800XT was only 8 pipes, then it'll be worthless since 6600GTs cost that much.

These are 8 pipe cards and nvidias way of eliminating the 6600GT line. It's easier and cheaper for them to eliminate a production line on the 6600 core and stick with the 6800 which will be phased out soon as well. They need to keep a budget line and eliminate cost to them.
