6800nu transistor count

is it also going to be 222 transistors, indicating the possibility of modding it to a 6800u?

Yeah, this is what I'm hoping for because the 6800U seems a bit pricey to me, plus I might have to grab a new PSU as I'm only on 350W right now.

Either way, I still expect the 6800nu to be an amazing performer.
 
Yes dave @ beyond3d asked about this and got a winked response. The 6800 ultra is essentially 4 x 4*1 units (+shaders) and these can be turned on/off according to die yields
 
I'm pretty sure I saw a 175M transistor number for the regular, 12-pipe 6800. Whether it's a separate core or they're just counting the transistors in use (vs. a 16-pipe 6800U), I don't know.
 
If someone gets a 6800 and a 6800 Ultra and rips the heatsinks off of both and they have the same die size, etc and the same PCB layout there might be a chance.
