My roommate recently purchased me a Leadtek 6800LE by accident. She meant to surprise me with a 6800, but ended up purchasing an LE.

I looked around Tom's Hardware, but they don't seem to include the 6800LE in their comparisions. Is this because it's comparable to the 6800?

Or is it so far removed from the 6800 that it's not worth benchmarking?

Thanks in advance for all your help!

It performs about the same as 9800 Pro and 5900XT (a tiny bit better). look at it like a 9800 Pro or 5900XT with SM3.0.

It should not be to far below a 6600GT. I am assuming it is clocked at 325/700 and has the 8 pipe core and 256Bit memory?? Try to get that core up to 400mhz or so. And get the memory to 800mhz or so and you should be fairly close to a 6600gt with aa and such enabled. I would also get rivatuner and check for masked pipes and see if you can get any to successfully unlock.

I looked at the reviews of your card at newegg.com and many people seems to be able to get the core's full 16 pipes unlocked with no problems. The ones that couldn't get 16x pipes are at least getting 12x pipes with no problems. You will definitely be better than a 6600gt if you could at least get the pipes to 12x. 16x pipes would of course be alittle better even.

Edit: I looked at the Leaktek product page and it does have 256Bit memory. The core is clocked at 300mhz and the memory is clocked at 700mhz. If you can enable at least 4x of those pipes and clock the core an extra 25mhz, then you will have full blown 6800nu performance.

Link to the Leaktek specifications

the 6800LE is a very nice card for the money. The same or faster than a 6600GT at stock speeds and is very easy to unlock and overclock to 6800 or higher speeds. :)

I downloaded and installed the riva tuner 15.6 but it doesn't seem to have the options to unlock the pipes...

=c/

I guess the 6800LE can't do it, while the 6800nu can. ::sigh::

so much for overclocking it to 6800 speeds...

do you know how to unlock the pipes? it's not as simple as clicking a button, or raising sliders.

EDIT: linky on how to do it.

ha ha, i figured out my problem shortly thereafter.

i have a dual monitor setup, and only one of the displays has the option for the pipes.

I had to leave one vertex shader disabled, but i unlocked the rest fine. I also got this baby to oc up to 375/875.

3dmark05 put me just shy of a stock 6800gt. pretty happy!

got lucky :) 6800 LE is great for the price. I got about 6000 3dmark03 with nothing unlocked, which is pretty good.

I unlocked mine to 12/5, the last vertex shader is horrible when unlocked. The other 4 pixel pipes work pretty well. I see HUGE rendering errors in 3dmark05, but not really anything in any games, which is strange, performance doesn't seem that different though.

Just got my 6800le today. Unlocked 16/5 (last vertex shader causes severe artifacts running any 3d games/benchmarks/etc). Well worth the $139.

Quick question. If I update drivers, will I have to go back to Riva Tuner and unlock the pixel pipes and vertex shader again?

No, you shouldn't have to. I'm pretty positive I've messed with driver updates before while I had an unlocked card in my system.
