I have the same ASROCK motherboard and as of right now the 8800 series do not run on it. There was a suggestion that there may be a fix/update at some point, but I wouldn't count on it.

What mobo are you getting instead? Is there some other mobo which will accept DDR RAM and also support PCI-E ?

Dear ASRock America Customer,

Sorry, nVIDIA GeForce 8800GTS PCIe graphics card is not compatible with 775Dual-VSTA. Please try with another (model) graphics card.

just google it ..u will find more of this..

bummer....does anybody know if the 775 4coreDual VSTA suffers from the same problem?

If it does, looks like I'll be holding off going to a C2D for a while...I was thinking of going for a E4300 and 4coreDual VSTA setup and then in 6 months getting a GTS...oh well...

saiku i m sory i didnt see this post earlier.. :(
i was looking 4 any change in 8800 320mb edition and found this thead..

4core its almost the same mobo...
99.9% 8800 will not run..

its not a mobo broblem its nvidia problem.. 8800 series its not fully compactive with the pcie stadarts..
i read that these cards need voltage in more than the 4 hardlines in pcie..
its a strange thing that pc is booting with 8800.. that inticates driver prob..

Asrock is the only company I've seen available with support for DDR1 & C2D that also has a PCI-E slot of any kind ... there are some available with AGP 8x only but thats it.

You should consider selling off your old MB & DDR on FS/FT & upgrading to DDR2 if you want to use that GTS.

to OP, If I were you I'd definitely get the 8800gts card and if you're having stability issues then look into a beefier psu, but I think you should be ok

I just purchased a evga 8800 GTS superclocked 640mb card. I was not able to get it to boot on my AsRock 775 -VSTA board. I was upgrading from a 6800 AGP card. I have an Antec SmartPower 2.0 500w w/ dual rails @ 19a and 17a. I don't think it was a power supply issue. I should have had no problem running it with my C2D 6600 @ 2600. I was able to boot the PC and see what was going on, but when I would try to install the 8800 GTS the system froze every time towards the end of the install. Sometimes I would get the message that the OS was waiting for a response from the graphics card.... I am just assuming it is the ASRock MB. I did/do love that motherboard. I am going to set my wife up with a dual core rig with it. I have purchased a new Gigabyte GA -965P-DS3 MB and OCZ 700w PSU w/ 4-18a/12v rails.. I can't wait to see what this new GTS will do. I hope you have better luck than me, but I do not believe the ASRock-VST via880 motherboards will support the 8800 GTS.

I guess the bright side is that once I rebuild next week, my performance is going to go thru the roof. 3.4Ghz here I come!

fusuikan, I ended up upgrading everything. I got a 8800 GTS 640MB with a new Asus P5N-E SLI mobo , 2 gb of DDR2-667 RAM. You will be VERY happy with this video card. After some initial hiccups, I have vista running and Counter-Strike : Source is cranked up high at 1600x1200. Verrrry nice. now, I need to sell my asrock mobo.
