6800GT temps

What is the most reliable way to monitor temps on the 6800GT? The nVIDIA utility shows
55c and speedfan is showing 48c.Is there another utility I can use to monitor temps? Is
the 6800GT normally a hot runnig card? I have the Artic cooling NV5 rev3 cooler on it and
the temps havent dropped much at all.

That's not bad. My 6800GT idles around 54c, with an NVSilencer rev 2.

Rivatuner reads the temps as, Core 54c, Ambient 38c. Thinking about the Zalman VF900, I have the VF700 on hand might try that.

The NV Silencer5 should drop your temps a lot, compared to the stock reference cooler...at least, it did for me. Are those load or idle temps? If they're load, then you're doing good. Rivatuner should show the same temps as the nvidia control panel. I'm not sure about speedfan but no reason why they should be any different unless they're reading from the wrong sensor.
