I recently noticed that my 6800gt's temperature seems ridiculously high. Everything's at stock, and yet it idles anywhere from 65-74 celsius and hits as high as 95 on load. Mobo is the first revision of the abit av8. I've definitely had issues with the motherboard reading my cpu temp wrong as a probe from my fan controller reads it a good bit lower, and it would seem some others have had similar issues, but I can't see how the motherboard's reading would have any effect on my video card's.
The machine's been assembled for a good 8 months, and since the time of building I had never seen the card go above 60 or so on load. Case is a thermaltake xaser V with decent circulation and plenty of fans, two being directly over the card on the side panel.
The only other thing I could possibly think of that might affect this would be drivers, as I just started using the 77.72's. I tried 71.89's and beta 77.50's but neither seemed to make a difference. For what it's worth, I just reformatted and updated my bios, but that also seemed to make little difference. I'm now considering getting a zalman heatsink replacement to get things cooler, but I'd like to explore every possibility first as temps were fine in the past.
Any help is much appreciated
