6800GT --->Quadro FX 4000.. Hardmod vs. Softmod

I was contemplating getting a 6800GT and modding it to a Quadro 4000. Anyone know if the hard mod will boost performance more than the softmod with just riva tuner? I saw some posts that seemed to indicate the hard mod would be better, but it is trickier since you have to resolder some resistors. Comments welcome.
