i bought my gt form a guy who flashed it to an ultra 400/1.1 with 1.4 volts
i read its better to keep it as a gt so i flashed it to 350/1.0 1.4 (stock speeds +.1 volt)

it originally overclocked to 425/1.12
now it clocks to 428/1.13

so even thought the overlcocks are about the same, is it better to keep it as a gt rather than ultra? and what's the difference with the voltages?

thanks for any help, robb

so the extra volts adds wear, but does it increase preformance? overclocknig decreases lifespan too

if u dont increase the voltage i would think the heavy oc to ultra speeds cant be sustained...i would think the lifespan wont decrease if you can keep the card cooled well (thats why they have the big @ss cooling fan on the ultras

Increasing the voltage usually improves overclocking headroom at the expense of heat. Where's you get those BIOSes? Are they card manufacturer specific?

Running at 1.4 with the single slot reference cooler isn't a very good idea. The extra heat will probably negate the voltage benefit. If you replace the cooler with something better I don't think there's much problem.

What card do you have? PCB is it al ultra or gt? Is it the evga 6800ultra Limited Edition? just tell me if its evga and if it does turn out to be the card that i have currently i can help you greatly by flashing your card to score 6K+ in 3dmark05.
