6800AGP Overclocking?

So I have an eVGA 6800NU AGP with an NV5 strapped onto it. My core looks like it overclocks fine (reaches just under 400), but my memory seems like something is wrong (can barely break 800mhz.) Is this supposed to be normal? Is there any way I can get it higher (volt-modding, adding capacitors, etc.), to something around 850? Any help would be appreciated, especially tips on volt-modding (where/how to mod, suggested voltage level)! My temps are 40C at 25% fan. not sure about full load, however, but I run the fan at 75%. thanks in advance.

The 6800 series are quite notorious for their thermal output...Make sure full load isn't "fully loaded" or else it might go jihad!

My Leadtek 6800 is only stable at around 350 core, but it came unlocked out of the box so I can't really complain. I cannot get much more than 730Mhz out of the RAM on it so I think you are doing just fine.

Make sure you test it for artifacting on a really demanding game like Oblivion. I had been running at a higher clock seemingly fine for a while, but a few newer games that stress the card more were getting artifacts.

I have tried that; unfortunately, my 4th locked pixel unit is broken, meaning when I use it the card shows artifacts like an egyptian pyramid hunt. my texture unit seems to be alright, but when I play games it seems like sometimes some shapes flash different colors (i.e. red triangles in a wall). it bothered me so I turned it off, not wanting to damage the card.

does anyone know anything about volt-modding?

I think you are doing fine. My 6800AGP started at 325/700 and now OC'd to 355/798 without artifacting. Sure it can go higher, but artifacts like crazy. I wish I can hit 400 artifact free. BTW-all my pipes are unlocked.

Oh I think I forgot to mention one thing : At my OC, I rarely see artifacts. However, whenever i even TRY to go higher, my OC program will not allow me to set it without testing it first, and then it says that the card failed the internal test and needs to lower the frequencies.

are you using rivatuner? if so go to the Power user tab in the main menu...open the \NVIDIA\ Overclocking and right click the "DisableInternalClockTest" and set the value to 1 click the OK button. that will disable the clock test.

that will work for Rivatuner v2.0 RC 15.8, for the newer RC 16.0...same steps but the "DisableClock Test" will be found in the \Overclocking\Global

excellent, thanks a lot. exactly what i needed. I'm now hitting 400/820 without a problem. thanks!
