6800 Vs 6800gt Both Bfg Ocs, Upgrading, Help, which should i go w/

Alright, I have a MSI6600GT right now, I'm thinking of upgrading to a 6800 or 6800GT and give the other card to my brother.

heres my situation, I want to put it on my best buy card because I get no interest and i can pay it off monthly..... They have the BFG 6800OC and the BFG 6800GT OC..$299 and $399 respectively. My question is, what should I go w/. Its $100 difference. and what you guys think of BFG.

Thanks a Lot in advance.

Its my understanding (and someone can correct me on this) that there is not a whole lot of speed difference between the 6600gt and the 6800. I would personally go for the BFG 6800gt if you have the money.

Edit: Pressed enter before I was done.

so thats decided....lets talk about BFG?

What do you guys think. and why is Best buy $80 cheaper than NewEgg? not that I'm complaining

Because the one on newegg is most likely a PCI-e card, which are being horribly gouged right now. Alkso, it seems like many of the AGP 6800gts on newegg are sold out...

Well my opinion is that right now online retailers are raking in the money and most are over priced right now. I have no idea why its cheaper at best buy than newegg or other places online.

I have seen this more than once, been wondering if brick and mortar places get hammered by irrate customers cause they can actually walk in to the store. Where as online businesses are isolated and insulated from their customers. Just a thought, not really much fact to back it up.

actually pcie 6800nu arent all that bad. stock specs but 128mb more memory for a $30 price bump. id pay $30 for double the memory.

The differences between the 6600gt and the 6800 significantly better than the 6600gt. I benchmarked over 2000+ more points than my friend in 3dmarks03 both with a similiar setup.

if you want to run high resolutions with AA, go gt. if you dont care about AA, then just go nu.

my nu will run up to 1280 smoothly with no AA/8xAF. it chugs when i use AA. my monitor is limited to 1280, so higer res. in of non concern to me, so make sure you take that into consideration. i game at 1152x864 with 0xAA/8xAF in doom, cod, hl2. itll handle 2xaa, but i dont notice the aliasing in fast paced games like that, so aa wasnt that important to me.

keep the 6600gt and wait a year.

the 400$ spent will not give you a 400$ performance increase.

or you could just give it to your brother and get a 6800gt.

but a 6800 vanilla isn't much of an upgrade over the 6600gt. i guess it just depends on how much money you want to spend.

6800 is not much of a difference over a 6600GT, the performance is almost the same. You only start to see differences when u turn up AA and AF high. If you must get a new card, get the 6800GT, but you could probably wait a while cause your card is still very good

I love my 6600GT, thats why im not selling it. just giving it to my bro. But I have some Extra cash i got from work and I went ahead and bough the BGF.
Its got the new cooling system w/ dual fans. Anyone know the diff between this and the old BFG 6800gt???

Is it better? worse. looks pretty mean though
