Ok, so I'm in a predicament:

I paid $499 for an evga AGP 6800 ultra when it was released last year.

My system is a athlon 64 3000+ oc'd to 2.4 ghz on a k8n neo2 platinum.

Here's my problem: I'm not going to upgrade for 1-2 years, and by that time I'm going to be forced to use pci-express, making my 6800 ultra useless.

I've put in a list to sell my 6800 ultra on craigslist, and have an offer of $250 WITH a 9800 Pro.

Should I take this offer and pocket the cash? Should I hold onto the card even though I know I won't be able to sell it in a year anyways?

9800 PRO is worth about $100 max.

I would eBay the Ultra for $350-$400, get a cheap AGP card interim, and upgrade to a AGP 24-pipe card in the fall. Most likely it will have to be an ATI card since Nvidia isn't making a 7800 AGP.

In a year you can still sell the 6800U to all the people with AGP wanting to replace their 9600 Pro or nv 5500 or gf4 mx for something with more power. There will still be hundreds of millions of AGP-equipped PCs running next year.

Your choices are:
(a) run with a now somewhat underpowered 9800 Pro for a year and have $250 + (say) $50 for the 9800 Pro when you sell it
(b) run with a strong 6800U card for a year, enjoying higher resolutions and more eye candy in all your games, then get maybe $125 - 150 for the card by then.

Is a year of better graphics worth $150 to you?

the problem is that you can find 6800 ultras for $300-350 in FS/FT so his offer isnt too far off although it seems like you are getting ripped

Used 6800 ultras are selling for ~$280-340 on Ebay from what I can tell.

I have a 6600gt in my dads computer I can pilfer, and put the 9800 pro in his.

Or sell the 9800 pro and get an older geforce 4 for his after.
