Because I had a 9700 Pro and now I have a 6800U. The benchmarks show the effect of that upgrade.

How irrational and illogical can you be? ;)

really appreciate the post BFG10K! i think a lot of 9700pro owners are finding it difficult to upgrade, but this certainly helps.

Damm these benchies make it even harder for me to upgrade. I would like a game to come out that my 9700pro won't run and then easy to justify. Thanks -- great job.

Also dumb question, is that legal text being less clear the only 2d issue or non-issue? Have you tried tv out on both cards?

It's a non issue; the 9700 Pro is ever so slightly sharper at 1600x1200@85 Hz 2D but the 6800U looks very good too.

Looks like you took the (H) approach BFG. But very nice benches indeed. Thanks.

Looks like you took the (H) approach BFG.

I wouldn't say that, BFG gave us actual playable numbers, no '7FPS is fine' retarded BS that you get over at H.

Nice work BFG, seeing it side by side like that makes me have to reconsider if I should move from my R9800Pro to a 6800U or not, would you say the filtering overall is at least better then the R9700Pro? I know you mentioned it's hard to do a direct comparison, but rough estimate.

Good work BFG. I'm not sure I needed to see Descent and Quake, but very comprehensive and well done.

(sorry BFG10k)
Rollo, what was that beer or wine you suggested I try from Woodman's?

Knowing how long it takes to perform all those benchies, you deserve a  It's a shame these tools around here would rather have P&N style debates instead of peruse good benchies.

Got to be Woodman's West these days, but:
1. Fuller's Vintage 2000 (pint)
2. Old Nick (pint)
3. Horn Dog (with the other Flying Dog beers- 12oz 4 pack)

Otherwise, pick up a "growler" of Mad Badger Barley Wine at JT Whitney's on Whitney Way.
Enjoy!

Just out of pure curiosity, no need to start flame war or anything but why did you disable shadows??? A lot of games, one in particular, look horrible (not as good i mean) without shadows.

Otherwise excellent job!!

I appreciate this, particularly since I have a 9700 Pro, and plan on getting a 6800GT and OCing it.

Honestly I'd like to see apples-to-apples numbers as well (e.g., run everything at, say, 1280x1024x4aax8af, or some other static setting), to get a clearer sense of the overall difference in performance. Still, great job!
