6800 Overclocking/Volt Mod

Voltage Mod & Bios Flash

The guys over at vr-zone have a page showing how to volage-mod your 6800 with a 100k resistor and they also have a bios flash that will add .1 volts...

I wonder if the bios would work on a 6800GT? As far as I can tell the bios is a modded Ultra bios, so i wonder what would happen if it was applied to a 6800GT???

EDIT: In the forum they say it is possible to flash a GT with the ULTRA bios AND add .1 volts in the process...interesting...

Im contemplating trying it on my day old 6800GT... LOL

Overclocking a gt flashed with ultra bios will run cooler. ultra bios will supply more voltage to core but fan rpm will increase to compensate for heat.

It also makes oc simpler, just clicking overclock tab after coolbits install, then click default which puts it at 400/550 from the gt default of 350/500.

Be really careful about flashing to an Ultra bios. Some people have gotten it to work but there have been quite a few that had big problems and had a tough time flashing it back. Just make sure you're prepared.

Personally, I'm more interested in what gains you can get with just the pencil trick.

well my pny 6800GT is running at 410/1.13

the drivers autodetect 420/1.13 for an overclock, but the card will hiccup in 3dmark03 at 420 core clock...so it seems 410 with stock cooling is the highest it will go...

there might be more margain in the memory...but i doubt it will improve performance much more...

all in all...ultra+ performance for GT price...im happy!
