6800 gt, what make should I get?

Well i decided to go with a 6800 gt and overclock it. I was then wondering what type of card should I buy. There is about a dozen makes, with all different prices. What do you think is the best? Why is the prices different if the card is the same? Thanks

THey are pretty much all the same. BFG has a lifetime warranty which is nice and a factory overclock. Just stay away from XFX (Ive read lots of problems with these and bad customer support) and the Asus (its not really a 6800gt). I got a PNY 6800gt from Compusa for 300 through a 25% off PNY video card price match and have it overclocked to 415 mhz core and 1130 mhz memory, stock voltage and cooler.

The BGF is the best version. Just stay away from the ASUS V9999 (6800 GT), like Bleh said. It's really a 12 piper instead of 16. They just took a vanilla 6800, replaced the 128mb of DDR1 with 256mb of DDR3, and clocked the speeds higher. But no 16 pixel pipelines.

My 2nd PNY has done right by me. I currently have it clocked at 375 core, hadn't had the need or motivation to test its limits. With that said, PNY packages their card rather poorly. I got my first card at CompUSA and returned it for a new one the next day. If I didn't get a discount on the card I would go with BFG.

I picked up an eVGA 6800 (NU) that was on sale at Micro Center. I'm really happy with it, and I was able to unlock pipes, and vertex shaders with riva tuner. I've heard of people raising their core/memory speed up like 40/100 respectively. If you do all that though, I highly suggest you spend a little extra for a better cooler. Don't mess around if you want performance.

evga, great cards. mine dosnt overclock as high as everyone elses though, maybe i need better cooling? i hover at 85C in RTHDR.

What are you guys smoking????? ASUS V9999GT is a 6800GT, with full 16 pipes and 6 vertex pipelines. I own one and it's a GREAT product. It's a single slot cooler solution, silent in idle (50C 2100rpm) and a little bit noisier @full load (3200-3300rpm). It uses ULTRA PCB with dual molex for higher stability and I wouldn't change it for any other brand. It also looks cool and the quality of the assembly is really good.

I went for the Galaxy GeForce 6800GT as it come with Arctic Cooler, is default over overclock to 375Mhz. I'm not bother about overclocking, I just want a quiet and stable system. The gfx card is wisper quiet, can hardly hear it in 3d mode, after playing Doom3 with max setting for 1 hour, the temp only goes up to 55c, under normal desktop usage is only 47c.
