no, price difference is $100, $299 for the 12 pipe 6800 and $399 for the 16 pipe GT. THe earliest these boards will hit is supposedly 1H of June although widespread availability is not expected until H2 of June.

Don't you realise people just KNOW that the lower pipeline cards suck. I mean, who needs benchmarks to actually see performance.
Pff.

The X800 Pro is a lower pipelined card(to the X800 XT) does that card suck?

Forget about how much you *think you will pay for these when they first become available. Look at X800pro pricing so far, they are going for a premium. Same will happen to the 6800's, big bucks initially.

And I'm still doubtfull we will ever see the 6800GT. If we do see it, I bet it is castrated compared to the reveiw cards we saw, it just competes too much with the 6800U, let alone a 6800NU. Between the 6800GT and 6800NU, one of 'em has to go. and I think it will be the GT.

Online outlets definitely but as always retail stores like BestBuy are selling them @ MSRP.

Check BestBuy.com or CompUSA's website it's available for purchase @ MSRP now. Don't see why they'll sell over MSRP @ their retail locations.

EDIT: Sold out @ BestBuy.com although still available @ CompUSA

Compared to the X800 XT definitely. Compared to a 16 pipelined 6800GT it's comparable if not a tossup between the 2.

Compared to the XT, it's also a fair whack cheaper.

The OP seems to have asked a poor question because he assumed that the cards (GT and NU) were the same price.
Just because the NU has 12 pipes doesn't mean it will suck though.
The Pro has 12 pipelines, the GT 16, the Pro isn't that bad compared to the GT.

Same here, except I'm not waiting for HL2. I'm just waiting on the freakin card to be available:|

The Geforce 6800 with 12 pipelines will suck totally considering Nvidia's higher clocked 16 pipe GT barely matches the X800 Pro.

The 128MB of DDR is the main reason I'm not planning on a 6800NU, but it still won't "suck totally" LOL

Why should any 6800s be heavily overpriced like the X800s? The 6800s didn't make it out in time to have an inflated price, otherwise if the 6800s do carry an intially inflated price, that'll mean more X800 sales... Perhaps the 6800U might carry a higher than MSRP price but certainly not the 6800 or 6800GT

I think its fair to say that the 6800 will be in the neighborhood of 75 to 80% of the GT. And it will still kick the crap out of a 5950U and with all the IQ you need.

what, $100 cheaper? i doubt that the X800XT will be selling for $499 EVERYWHERE. just like the X800, there will be some places that have it for cheaper
