Hey guys,

I'm really curious on what speed you have your Gt running at and what's the max temp. you've seen with it running underload.

Mine:
410/1120
Temp=86-88

425/1140 78C full load.

This is when running that rotating planet/marble program and looking at the temp sensor at the same time. This is also with my mod of plugging the onboard fan into a 3 to 4 pin adapter and running off the PSU's direct power. I am still not sure if it helps load temps or not hopfully I will get time this weekend.

what's ambient temp. for you?
I get 86-88 on far cry with everything maxed out

The program is called rthdribl. Real Time High Definition Rendered Illuminating Base Lightning. At least thats' what I think it is.

The card lowers temps quite quickly so your max temp isn't reached during gaming for the most part. During loading it cools off a bit.

yes thats the program I assumed that running it in windowed mode and viewing the temps was about as accurate as it could get for the cards temps on full load with out having to exit a program and run to the window temp asap.

410/1100 - 82ºC after 1 hour of FarCry

415/1150 produces artifacts.

The most accurate way to record temps is to use Riva Tuner's hardware monitoring function, It puts it on a time line that shows the last 5 minutes or so.

Just tried this way and topped out at 80C. Plan on getting Water cooling sooner or later though so we'll see if that helps or not ;)

I guess if your not getting Lockups and whatnot, then your OK as to the temp, tho IMHO its pretty hot.

The GT's get really hot. under full load with room temp of 30c. The card reaches 91c running 30min using the dynamic branching demo

I'm just have to wait for zalman to come out with a cooler for 6800 GTs

Okay, I feel much better. I was playing far cry with everything on ultra high. Runs smooth, but temp. reaches 91

The card is good until 120 so you still have 30 C left to play with I wouldn't worry to much.

I have just ordered one of these cards, should get it mon or tues, are you guys all happy with the perfomance and picture quality of this card, also those temps seem real high, is that standard.
PS: where does the 120c come from, is that from nvidia?

The 120c, is merely the cutoff point defaulted to by the drivers, as a warning temp. 2D looks great, and 3D is fantastic. Very nice cards, tho they do run a bit hot.

Sorry to go slightly off topic, but I have a GT and may not even overclock ever. The difference between a stock GT and a stock Ultra is only on average of 1fps in Doom 3. Why such a small difference? (This is on the P4 3.0c by the way)

All GTs are not created equal. After getting wildly varying responses from coobits and from overclocks, I found my card will run stable at 400/1070 with Fastwrites disabled in the bios. Coolbits would keep giving different optimal settings that I couldn't trust as being accurate. I even thought at a point that I'd aged the ram prematurely by starting out at those speeds. My temps after 10 minutes of rthdribl stay around 77 to 78C; I suspect they get higher with 3dmark and Far Cry.
I found that if I try to clock the card higher than that, it freezes or it throttles back so I get poor 3dmark scores. It was running fine originally at 426/1100, but after a bout of beta drivers, this is the best it will do.
What does the current overclock do for performance? Well, at stock the 3dmark is 11327, at the 400/1070, it's 11934. I find that unless your a 3dmark junkie, that isn't worth it. These cards are just fine if you leave them at stock. But then, you don't get the pleasure of posting your 3dmark scores to make others envious.

I've got 435MHz GPU & 1.1GHz DDR @ 53'C under full load w/ AIR cooling on an eVGA 6800 Ultra seemingly labeled as a 6800 GT... running stable & no artifacts.

I say seemingly, Bcause it was SUPPOSED 2 B a 6800GT, but when I received it... it had 2x Power Connectors, Dual DVI, Dual-Slot Fan, NO eVGA sticker on fan (rather a nVidia sticker), and a paper saying "Connecting GeForce 6800 Ultra to the Power Supply" advising 450W (I've got 650Watt)... . It identifies itself as a 6800GT in Windows, so I'm not quite sure if this is a 6800 Ultra that didn't make the cut or some kind of Reference Card. Either way, I'm happy w/ 1 Year Warranty, Far Cry, etc. included. It'll B interesting 2 C if I can raise the clock any higher once Zalman gets a Heatpipe designed 4 this thing.
